BIOSTAR TZ77XE4 Ver. 5.x Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

We were very interested when receiving this board as it showed real promise with its insanely low price. The BIOS definitely could use some serious love to get something that resembles the true capability of the board and what it can do. The Biostar TZ77XE4 is definitely one a diamond in the rough Many times we have seen excellent performing boards but the price just hurts, and there are so many frills added that we would never use. With this board, however, Biostar is on the right track with a no frills board that does what it needs to and rather well at a reasonable price point. With some fine tuning to the board, timings, and firmware polishing, we feel this board could be a do not miss item, but as of now it is a great performer with some issues mixed in. For anyone looking to jump into Z77 at a super low price while still staying ATX, the Biostar TZ77XE4 is a tough to beat contender as you can plug it in and game with some great performance. The board is basic, which can be either bad or good depending on your usage. It covers wired LAN, audio and multi GPU along with some incredible RAM performance capabilities all ready to just plugin at a great price.

motherboards‘s review Edit

The placement of the PCI-e slots is perfect for someone planning on using multiple cards since the additional space between the main x16 slot and the second slot will allow greater air flow and cooling for the primary card. Neither of these are deal breakers though, and in a price versus performance comparison this board is going to come out on top or near the top every time. The TZ77XE4 performance is top notch especially for a motherboard at this price point, the board looks great and offers almost every feature you could ask for, so if you are in the market for a new Intel motherboard check give BIOSTAR a chance and save yourself some money for your other system parts.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

The Biostar TZ77XE4 really surprised me with its overall aesthetic design, as well as the chosen onboard components, which really do not cut any corners, either in cost, or functionality. There is a limited number of USB 3.0 ports, but this is one of the things that helps keep final board cost down, and with two each on the front panel and the rear panel, there should be more than enough for most users. The new VRM design on the TZ77XE4, which uses much more up-to-date components when compared to previous Biostar designs, to me, is a huge step towards lowering overall idle power consumption through greater efficiency, and should help Biostar keep pace with some of the more prevelant OEMs on the market today. Did I mention how clean and simple the new design is? I really cannot stress enough how impressive the Biostar TZ77XE4 is aesthetically, another thing that Biostar has changed recently that to me, rivals much more expensive products on the market today.

I found myself quite surprised with this BIOSTAR offering. So often when we've moved outside the realm of brands like ASUS, ASRock, MSI and GIGABYTE to name the big four, we run into problems. Most the time we see boards from other companies that run fine at stock, but as soon as we start to overclock them, we run into issues. Of course, there's even times when we try to run a board at stock and run into problems. This wasn't an issue with the BIOSTAR TZ77EX4. We got everything installed, updated to the latest BIOS and started our testing. We didn't run into a single problem, at stock or overclock. What makes us more surprised, though, is the fact there's a $149.99 price tag attached to this motherboard.
