Toshiba Excite 10 LE Pro Reviews

ubergizmo‘s review Edit

The most valuable feature of the Toshiba Excite 10 LE is its light and ultra thin body that features a stylish design. Overall the tablet delivers a good user experience, with a good quality display and regular performance. We have to keep in mind that it was introduced on the market a few months earlier than the fastest and newest Tegra 3- powered Android tablets launched in the past two months. Still, none of the latest 10-inch tablets are so light and thin and so elegant. I would recommend the Toshiba Excite for people who likes to travel light, value style for their gadgets and prefer to watch movies rather than play 3D games.

All in all, the Excite 10 LE is a great tablet that we'd have no problem recommending to a friend, but it's not a tablet that stands out in terms of performance or price. If you're considering a good-looking, lightweight tablet that offers all of the current technologies on the market today, however, the Excite 10 LE is a competent option.

At first glance, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE seems like it could be something truly exceptional. It's sleek and lightweight, and it has a look about it that practically shouts "premium." But if you take a closer look at it, you'll find that it is, in fact, exceptionally mediocre. It has an unimpressive screen, a ton of worthless apps, an underpowered processor, and so-so battery life. And don't get me started on the connectivity issues again. By no means am I saying that the Excite 10 LE is a complete failure. It has some redeeming features, including its aforementioned build, a great suite of ports, and if it's your thing, a pure, unfettered version of Android 4.0 ICS. But at a starting price of $529.99 for the 16 GB model, I would venture to say that your money is probably better spent elsewhere; perhaps on the Excite 10, which sacrifices the impossibly svelte build of the 10 LE (though it's still quite thin) in exchange for features like a quad-core processor and a full-sized SD card slot. And at a starting price of $449.99, it's cheaper too. Just some food for thought.

The thinnest you can buy right now, the Toshiba Excite 10 LE is a fine midrange Android tablet, but you're paying a premium for its slim design.

I can't help but imagine the meeting at Toshiba where an executive demanded "the world's thinnest tablet," no matter what. Toshiba hit the mark with the Excite 10 LE, but the costs are staggering: it feels poorly built despite its excellent materials, performs as poorly as any "high-end" tablet I've tested recently, and does it all in a package that's more expensive than much of its competition. I can't think of a single reason to recommend the Excite 10 LE over the Transformer Prime or the Galaxy Tab 10.1, not to mention the new iPad — you're even far better off saving $130 and buying an iPad 2.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

It's tough to stand out in the world of Android tablets. With a new slate running the same Android software with more or less the same specs being pitched out to consumers every few weeks, only the unique survive. Some get noticed with a low price tag. Some will contort for your attention. Some are fast. And some, like the Toshiba Excite 10 LE, will try to entice you with their slender supermodel physique.
