Samsung ML-2165W Pro Reviews

Macworld‘s review Edit

For low-volume personal printing, or as an adjunct to a color inkjet, the ML-2165W fits the bill. It’s regrettable, however, that Samsung forces Mac users to jump through hoops to get two-sided printing.

The Samsung ML-2165W is a basic laser suited for low-volume use, boasting a minimal purchase price and size - but also minimal features, and maximal toner costs.

The selling point for the Samsung ML-2165w could also be considered its major flaw: it is a single function monochrome laser printer. The target market is small for this device; think a home or small office in need of an inexpensive, high volume printer or a dorm room where the student has limited space and prints quite a bit. And although the ML-2165w offers wireless connectivity isn't ideal as anything other than a desktop printer simply because of it’s limited functionality. If you are looking for an affordable, no nonsense printer with multiple connection options for personal use be it in a office or a home, than the ML-2165w could be right for you.

computershopper‘s review Edit

While, on the whole, we like the ML-2165W in terms of value for money, we recognize that it's a not-for-everybody product. Buyers who need a relatively high-volume monochrome laser printer—but who are short on space—should appreciate this printer. You'd be hard-pressed to find another model that prints this fast, with this model's volume rating, at this size and price. We think, though, that this product will be most attractive to professionals who need to carry their office around with them. Portability is, hands-down, the ML-2165W's stand-apart asset. That's not something you ever hear about a laser printer, but this one is light and small enough to carry in an overnight bag. Once you've established a wireless connection with your laptop and installed the drivers, to use it again—no matter where you are—you simply plug it in. It boots up instantly, ready to start churning out documents in a snap. When it's time to go, you'd unplug it and move on to the next stop. And the small (in physical size, that is) 1,500-page toner cartridge should see you through all but the most demanding meetings or trade shows. The paper you'd have to carry to deplete it would weigh way more than the printer.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Samsung ML-2165W comes up short on paper handling, but offers reasonably high quality output and a small size that makes it a good fit as a personal mono laser in any size office.

If you need a compact, personal laser printer, the Samsung ML-2165W has a very small footprint, but doesn’t sacrifice functionality for its small size. It’s quick, prints text and graphics well and can even handle direct print from phones and tablets. You don’t even pay over the odds for consumables.
