GALAXY GeForce GTX560 Ti MDT X5 Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

After using the Galaxy GeForce GTX560 Ti MDT X5 video card for a while, we've come away with the feeling that Galaxy designed this video card atypical of what you would think you would be getting. You would think that a video card designed to push 5-displays, sporting a GeForce GTX 560 Ti GPU with 1GB of RAM would not be a capable multi-display gaming platform. You might think this video card was designed more for 2D productivity, than 3D gaming. You'd be wrong. We get the impression Galaxy has kept its gaming/enthusiast roots in tact with this video card. With the custom fan and heatsink, and voltage modification, overclocking is a reality with this video card. We were able to push it up to 950MHz GPU frequency, and the overclock provided a real-gameplay experience improvement. You might not think overvoltage support would be the kind of thing you find a card like this, but Galaxy thinks otherwise and gives us that option. The only thing that could be considered a downside to this video card is the price required to dive into multi-display gaming. The Galaxy GeForce GTX560Ti MDT X5 can be purchased currently for $329.99. If you think of this in comparison to other GeForce GTX 560 Ti GPU based video cards, it is extremely expensive, and not a value as its performance is the same. However, it is also the only one that lets you achieve 5 displays on a single video card. Otherwise, the only other way to experience multi-display gaming is with NV Surround, and for that two video cards are required. In that case, two GTX 560 Ti cards would be more expensive than a single Galaxy GeForce GTX560 Ti MDT X5. Two GTX 560 Ti cards would also only allow you to connect up to a 3x1 display configuration. The Galaxy GeForce GTX560Ti MDT X5 goes beyond that, offering a 5-display setup. On those terms, this is a good value. Given everything we've experienced, the Galaxy GeForce GTX560Ti MDT X5 is not only a display-flexible video card for desktop productivity, but also a capable video card that lets you enjoy today's latest games from a very widescreen perspective. Certainly this is not a video card for everyone, but it is great to see companies like Galaxy pushing into new enthusiast frontiers in the world of the GPU. Galaxy has produced a great product in the GTX560Ti MDT X5.
