D-Link DIR-645 Pro Reviews

gadgetreview‘s review Edit

If the purpose of a wireless router is to make your environment one giant “hot spot,” then the D-Link Whole-Home Router 1000 DIR-645 delivers. With a retail of under $150, and a setup that is no harder than any conventional router, you’d be hard pressed to find any faults with using it.

At £80 the DIR-645 is more expensive than a lot of other routers, but the extra features and smartbeam technology make it worth the expense. It does a good job of improving the speed of a wireless connection and is more stylish than most other routers.

Fast, easy to use and good-looking - the DIR-645 is a brilliant router, but avoid D-Link's DWA-160 dongle

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The D-Link Amplifi Whole Home Router 1000 DIR-645 could make an excellent router if its signal stability were better in N-only mode. At its current state, it's still a very good router for homes that need a fast wired network, good set of networking features, and excellent Wi-Fi coverage.

Having lost faith in the innumerable gimmicks designed to bolster the ageing 802.11n wireless standard we were amazed to find D-Link has cracked it with SmartBeam. The DIR-645 is the company's first router to incorporate this smart device tracking technology and it provides significant increases to real world performance and range to alleviate the long wait for 802.11's next standard. The DIR-645 is far from a one trick pony, however, it also sports a stylish and practical design and it is a snap to setup out of the box. Some may wish to wait for a dual band version, but with the DIR0645's bargain price tag thrown in, we're sold.

The best 2.4GHz performing wireless router we've seen both in speed and style, but at this cost it should be.
