Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition Pro Reviews

The form factor appeals, but the level of performance needs to be better

Basically, the Xoom 2 ME is a solid tablet. Its low weight and small screen make it to the perfect companion. The bright screen stands out with a good contrast and saturated colors and it can even deal with the odd ray of sun. The sound is also impressive. It is possible to occasionally listen to a movie's soundtrack using the speakers. The case is cleanly manufactured and although the rubberized edges will probably not protect the device's innards when it is dropped - the tablet provides a good grip making a fall unlikely.

The combination of a small, tough and light body and a 8.2in 800 x 1280 screen results in a fine little tablet. The display is pin sharp for gaming, viewing video or images, while the shape and weight make it an excellent e-book reader. It may not be the most powerful Android device on the market but at this precise moment in time, it’s the tablet I’d buy.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Xoom 2 Media Edition is one of the best smaller tablets out there, so if you're looking for a small tablet for browsing or a bit of video at home, this offers premium features and an excellent screen for a decent price. However, its lack of microSD slot, fiddly keyboard, smudgy screen, relatively low battery life and other niggles mean that this ends up being a good tablet, not a great one.

A slick 8.2in tablet, but battery life isn’t great and the price is on the high side

The best little tablet you can buy, but the lack of 3G and a slightly-disappointing battery life hold it back

All told, as with the its larger sibling the Xoom 2, we mostly like what we see with the Xoom 2 Media Edition. It's well built and easy on the eye while packing in all the essentials in terms of connectivity and other physical features. The lack of 3G and microSD expansion on this model is a bit of a shame but for its £329.99 price these seem like reasonable compromises. That said, you get a lot more tablet with the normal Xoom 2 for only £5 more.
