The Sony VAIO YB comes with an industry-standard one-year warranty. We discussed much of the software onboard earlier, but we did note some useful items, including Microsoft Office Starter, which features reduced-functionality versions of Word and Excel. You also get the aforementioned VAIO Care, as well as the preinstalled Norton Internet Security 2012 30-day trial, which will remind you constantly that it exists and slow the computer down until you uninstall it. And then there’s the less-than-friendly Media Gallery and other Sony software that required patience to deal with—not to mention the gesture-control feature that didn't detect our hand movements properly.
