Toshiba BDX2000 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Toshiba BDX2000 review £200 An attractive Blu-ray player with decent performance, but we'd really expect more features at this price.

Good job, then, that the picture and sound quality is up to par. The Toshiba can't rival the Sony BDP-S560 for detail and sharpness, but it's perfectly enjoyable, especially with a clean, colourful transfer such as Up. Edge definition is very good, background noise is minimal and, while there's a slight hint of motion judder in very fast panning, stability is generally fine.

Although it’s a little slow in operation, and missing out on features like network media playback, the BDX2000 does have price in its favour. Even so, competition is getting tougher at this end of the market. If you value options like audio test tones and delay settings, it’s worth a look, but if you want extensive media playback functionality, you'll have to go elsewhere.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Late to the Blu-ray market it may be, but this deck from the inventors of the once-rival HD-DVD format treats both Blu-ray and DVD discs with rare skill. For Toshiba, it's just a shame that a lot of other manufacturers got there first and are now starting to introduce features that the BDX2000 lacks. Hardly the greatest, or best-value player around, Toshiba could nevertheless be worth keeping an eye on in 2010; the follow-up to the BDX2000 could be something special.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Despite being short on the kind of features we're keen to see become mainstream, the BDX2000 is a terrific disc spinner across the board.

Great image quality saves the Toshiba BDX2000 from being just another mundane, low-cost Blu-ray player.

Don't get us wrong; when it comes to the core Blu-ray player duties there’s nothing particularly wrong with the BDX2000 – it delivers crisp pristine hi-def pictures to your TV, plays the main digital media formats via SD card and sports an agreeable operating system.
