The Pioneer BDP-320 doesn't have an overly impressive feature set, instead concentrating its resources on sound and picture quality. In this regard it doesn't disappoint, since both are very fine. But with other players offering good enough sound and vision, plus additional options like Wi-Fi, YouTube and other Internet content, USB playback and analogue audio outputs, as well as faster loading and navigation, often for less money, the Pioneer may not be doing enough to justify its cost.

The well-designed Pioneer BDP-320 delivers consistently pleasing images, but lacks the streaming capabilities found on other Blu-ray Disc players.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Anyone expecting whizzy new features to go with the high price will be disappointed. Home cinema purists and Pioneer fans, on the other hand, can consider this a perfectly executed all-rounder that delivers top quality audio and video without the multimedia juggling or web surfing, which aren't strictly necessary on a Blu-ray player.

Home Theater‘s review Edit

The Pioneer is a solid performer with both Blu-ray and DVD playback. However, its responsiveness and speed leave a lot to be desired, and it doesn’t offer any of the extra features. If these items take a backseat to picture and sound, you can’t go wrong with the audio and video quality. Both are exceptional, but you’d better have a lot of patience.

This well-designed model delivers consistently pleasing images, and did well on DVD upconversion, but it lacks the streaming capabilities found on many competing models.

The BDP-320 is another impressive Blu-ray deck from the Pioneer stable, which will appease discerning users with its incredible performance, extensive AV tweaks and solid build quality. That said, it's not the easiest player to get along with - although it looks nice, much of the operating system is sluggish, plus discs take an age to load - and having got used to the brilliant LG BD390, the Pioneer's feature list seems paltry by comparison, especially when you consider the price differential between them. But if you care not for bells and whistles and simply want a straight-up Blu-ray deck that delivers stunning picture quality, then the BDP-320 is certainly worth an audition.
