As such, this laptop is one that can be recommended only to some readers. If you don’t care at all about appearance, and you’d like a powerful ultraportable with class leading battery life, this is a good choice. Just don’t tell your friends how much you paid. Unless they’re computer geeks themselves, it’s unlikely they’ll understand.

Users who choose their next subnotebook in view of soft criteria, such as workmanship and robustness, will make a good choice with the U36SD. The performance is very good thanks to the SSD.

Overall, we mostly like the U36SD-A1. For $899 you get a swift Core i5 processor and Nvidia graphics in a sexy, svelte frame. Plus, this laptop provides nearly 8 hours of endurance. Where this ASUS notebook falls a little flat is its tinny speakers and stiff touchpad button. Nevertheless, if you're in the market for an ultraportable with great looks and power to spare, the ASUS U36SD-A1 is a good buy.
