GIGABYTE G1.Assassin2 (rev. 1.0) Pro Reviews

motherboards‘s review Edit

Gigabyte ensured that this board was going to appeal to the extreme-enthusiast market. That’s exactly what it does. With the extra real estate that’s present on the board they were able to ensure that the processor would get all of the power that it would need. For the extreme overclocker this isn’t hard to understand. My only complaint though would be how close the top capacitors are to the CPU socket. This layout isn’t going to make LN2 runs very easy. I have seen a lot worse though. Aside from this small issue, this board is built for speed and meant to be pushed to the extreme. It was a pleasure to work with and presented us with no hassles or trouble when we were installing the hardware or running our benchmarks. This board is every bit deserving of our Editor’s Choice Award here at Motherboards.Org.

The G1.Assassin 2 is Gigabyte’s most expensive X79 motherboard, but if you’re already investing in a pricey Core i7-3960X or i7-3930K processor chip and you’re looking to build a top-of-the-line gaming rig, it’s well-equipped for the task. The Sound Blaster audio sounds great on a good surround-sound setup or quality headphones, and the E2100 Killer networking processor may be overkill, but at least it lets you know you’re getting the lowest ping possible on your end of the Internet wire.
