Nikon COOLPIX S6150 Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

The advanced specification of the Nikon S6150 produces images to a decent standard. Sharpness is generally pleasing, even though the model features a 7x optical zoom, whilst high ISO noise is also well controlled up to ISO 800. Also, considering the relatively large focal range, the Nikon S6150 control chromatic aberation well throughout the focal range. There are occasions when white can err on the slightly warm side, although this is generally not to the detriment of image quality on the whole. Considering the low price tag of the Nikon S6150, it certainly is an eye catching compact. The specification hints at a model which should cost a lot more, while the compact delivers good result on the whole despite a few misgivings over white balance. The only real letdowns are a slightly bulky body and some issues with focus accuracy but, on the whole, the S6150 is a quality compact camera.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

We always have high hopes for Nikon because they always make such nice cameras. So when we get something like the Coolpix S6150 we get a bit disappointed. That's not to say that it's a bad camera, we just expect more from them. For the price, the build of the Nikon Coolpix S6150 is decent enough and there's enough features to keep the happy snapper going. The stuff normally found in the main menu has been stripped right back and that's not such a bad thing. It makes it more appealing to the consumer that doesn't care about the ins and outs of a camera. Picture quality is good on the S6150. We found that primary colours are precise and not over saturated. Softer colours are recorded sympathetically and we like how it handles complex colours too. We're surprised that the metering system only uses segment but that's the most common used type these days so should it really matter? And will the person that the camera is aimed at notice that it's missing?

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The Coolpix S6150 has a range of useful features and makes it easy for beginners to photography to take some very pleasing images. There was some purple fringing in some images but when considering the price it is available for the camera represents excellent value for money.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Overall then, this Coolpix update offers an attractive slice of camera technology for the money. If you're not in the market for more manual control options but want a feature-packed digital camera in the £150 price range, the Nikon Coolpix S6150 certainly represents one of the best value compact cameras around, however the disappointing touchscreen certainly lets it down.
