Acer ICONIA TAB A100-07u016u Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Acer Iconia A100 aims to provide all the features and benefits of an Android tablet in a compact design focussing on portability. However, despite the Iconia A100's decent performance, it's ultimately crippled by a poor quality display, mediocre battery life and a chunky design. If you're looking for the ideal 7in Android tablet, the Acer Iconia A100 is not it. Keep looking.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Without a doubt, if this tablet were released even a month ago, we’d totally be all over it in a heartbeat, namely because of its tasty $329.99 pricing. Of course, it’s tastefully competitive on so many levels knowing that we’ve seen previous 7-inch tablets priced at the $400 to $500 range. However, now that we’re beginning to see some other similarly spec’d tablets making the exodus to the $300 and under club, it’s going to be a tough challenge to attract leery buyers to see the value of this one. Still, when compared to its bigger brother, we actually prefer this one so much more because of its better build quality and overall performance.

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Its convenient size and weight makes the A100 desirable as a portable web browsing platform, and its design, while not particularly classy, is still smart. We could do without Acer's choice of pre-installed apps and the Hubs, but there's plenty of storage space so they don't eat into it too much. As the first 7in Android 3.2 tablet to market, the A100 has no real competition. It's an impressive tablet with only a couple of niggles, such as the slightly tacky plastic back and odd speaker placement. It’s a good value tablet to buy now, but you may want to hold off until the competition release their own 7in tablets.

All good things are worth waiting for: Acer has done a good job on the Iconia Tab A100, with a few exceptions, and it merges seamlessly into the existing tablet family.

On paper the Acer Iconia A100 sounds great. It's a sub-£300 Android Honeycomb tablet using the still fairly rare 7in form factor that has all the power of the top tabs in town. But a few serious problems blow its chances. The display quality is poor, battery life is half of what an iPad achieves and the design inspires indifference rather than desire.

The first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet, the A100 is a merely passable Android slate, hindered by poor battery life, narrow viewing angles, and sluggish performance.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

This isn’t the perfect tablet, then, not by a long chalk. And with average screen quality, below par battery life and a poor camera, you’d think we’d be ready to stick the boot in. But the Acer A100 is actually a rather likeable device. It’s nice to use, snappy and responsive, and looks even more attractive when you put it in context of the immediate competition. It costs £300 inc VAT, the same as the ageing 7in Samsung Galaxy Tab, and a massive £180 cheaper than the 16GB HTC Flyer. If a 10in tablet doesn’t appeal, this little alternative just might.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

This tablet is good for a lot of things. Wrapping up the awesome power of the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor in a medium-sized package, one that’s not a smartphone yet not quite a full-sized tablet makes this device good for some slightly more hardcore on-the-go games than you’re used to on your Motorola ATRIX 4G or Motorola Photon 4G.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Acer Iconia A100 is one of our favorite tablets so far. It's great for watching movies, video chatting, surfing the Web and playing with apps, until its teeny-tiny battery runs out. If it weren't for that battery life result, this would be an absolute Editors' Choice for Android tablets. For now, it's just the sweetest slice of Honeycomb we've seen yet.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

With the Iconia Tab A100, Acer offers one of the best tablet values on the market. For $349, this device combines snappy dual-core performance with the full Honeycomb experience in a lightweight design. We just wish the A100 lasted longer on a charge. Some may prefer the HTC Flyer for its Sense software and note-taking capability, but that tablet doesn't yet support Android Honeycomb. If you like Android, but aren't wedded to the 7-inch form factor, we're also high on the $399 ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. But if you're looking for a tablet that can be held like an eReader, the Iconia Tab A100 is a solid pick.
