HTC Amaze 4G Pro Reviews

brighthand‘s review Edit

I like the HTC Amaze 4G because it's a little different from the sea of "me too" smartphones competing among each other to be the fastest, the thinnest, the one with the largest screen. It's a capable device, but the only real feature that sets it apart is the superior camera. It's the perfect phone for shutterbugs, but perhaps not for those looking for the absolute latest bleeding-edge smartphone. Its marginal performance making voice calls is a bit of a disappointment. If you're more interested in taking photos of your daily adventures and sharing them with your friends than in showing off your phone, the Amaze could be a good choice for you.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

The Amaze 4G is well-named. It knocks almost every feature out of the park. Save for the crummy voice call quality and average battery life, it is superior than most of its stablemates on T-Mobile's retail shelves. The display looks great, the hardware and build quality are excellent and look good, the calling and messaging features are the equal to any other Android phone, and there are plenty of options for social networking. While the music- and video-consumption tools are excellent, the camera and video camera really set the bar for what smartphone cameras ought to be able to do. The camera opens fast, focuses fast, shoots fast, and saves fast. The pictures don't look like they were taken in a hurry, though. Rather, they often looks as you'd expect them to come from a professional camera. Throw in the insanely fast internet speeds (when the right coverage is available) and a Formula 1 grade processor, and you have a winning combination.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

It is hard to find any faults in the HTC Amaze 4G. The phone is a great performer and it offers top notch build quality. We do however, feel that it should have been launched several months ago, when the competition was not so intense. While we’re sure that the hardcore HTC fans will love it, we can’t say the same about potential new users. There are just way too many options out there which simply offer more for you hard earned money.

PC World‘s review Edit

If you’re ready to ditch your standalone camera, the HTC Amaze is a solid choice. But the camera isn’t the only standout feature of the Amaze: From its slick design to its fast performance and dazzling display, the Amaze is all-around good phone. If you’re looking for a stylish phone with a excellent camera, but don't mind a little extra bulk, the Amaze is ideal for you.

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

The battery life is not stellar, but everything else about the Amaze 4G is pretty great. While we’re not sure it’s actually worth $60 more than any other dual-core phone, the Amaze holds its own and excels when it comes to taking pictures and video. We hope that HTC updates this device to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) as soon as it’s available, but until then, the Amaze is a great choice for T-Mobile subscribers and highly comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S II.

The Amaze 4G isn't perfect, but it's superior to its T-Mobile competition in two key respects: the screen and the camera. It's technically not as fast as the Galaxy S II, but it performed just as well in my time with both phones, and its qHD screen and camera functionality are head and shoulders above the Galaxy S II or the Sensation. At $259.99 with a two-year contract, it's $30 more than the Galaxy S II and $60 more than the Sensation, but in my mind it's worth the price to get the best overall phone on T-Mobile right now.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The HTC Amaze 4G for T-Mobile USA is a big, heavy, and ultimately powerful smartphone. It boasts very solid construction, good looks, and high performance features all around. It's 8 megapixel camera is among the best out there now, and the qHD resolution Super LCD display it uses is big, bright, and easy on the eyes. Apart from the hiss heard during voice calls, there's little wrong with this phone, and a whole lot of right. Whether T-Mobile users should pick up this device or Samsung's Galaxy S II is mostly a matter of taste, but you certainly can't go wrong with the HTC Amaze 4G.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The HTC Amaze 4G and Samsung Galaxy S II are superphones that take a different approach. HTC comes at you with blunt force, with a bold and brash design. The Galaxy goes about it with sleek and sexy. With nearly identical hardware and similar performance what separates these phones is software and personal preference. HTC does a better job with their Sense 3.0 overlay, but Samsung manages not to mess things up with TouchWiz 4.0. Our personal preference is for the larger Super AMOLED Plus display, thinner body and better battery life on the Galaxy S II, but then again we couldn’t fault you for choosing the Amaze 4G for its higher resolution and more sturdy construction.

The HTC Amaze 4G has a big beautiful screen, a great camera, and fast HSPA+ 42 speeds, making it a top choice for Android smartphones on T-Mobile.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

All things considered the HTC Amaze 4G stands among the best Android devices out there. The upgraded hardware is nice, but the Amaze doesn’t set itself apart from the Sensation 4G all that much. The processer is better, it has more RAM, more internal memory and can theoretically download faster, but at the end of the day these are all just incremental upgrades. With the Sensation 4G only being released in May we’re really not sure why T-Mobile felt the need to pick up the Amaze 4G. It is certainly a better device , but it doesn’t necessary fix the flaws or bring anything really different to the table.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The Amaze 4G is undoubtedly one of the best-looking Android phones around, and HTC and T-Mobile back up those good looks with a fast processor, a fantastic camera, and impressive 4G speeds (at least on the download). The ultra-premium design and instant access to the camera and camcorder with dedicated buttons will lure many T-Mobile customers to this device.

The HTC Amaze 4G is a beautifully designed and fast Android smartphone, with some advanced camera features, but don't go ditching your point-and-shoot camera just yet.
