We really wanted to see what the viability is of a completely silent CrossFireX solution. Two GIGABYTE HD6770 Silent Cell video cards are your only option for this. This is the most powerful silent CFX combo you can get right now, with prices that challange Radeon HD 6950's and GeForce GTX 570's. These have the performance in CFX to offer a good gameplay experience at 1080p. It did handle most of our Apples-to-Apples settings well, and the overclock we achieved helped smooth out that gameplay and make it more enjoyable. The CFX configuration was not able to mimic the performance of the more powerful Radeon HD 6950 or GeForce GTX 570. The Silent Cooling system is a nice innovative piece of technology. We are giving GIGABYTE a solid A on this type of technology. We would love to see this on a more powerful GPU like the Radeon HD 6870, which is based on AMD's latest GPU generation. The HD 6770's just do not have enough raw power to compete and max out the higher resolutions, or AA settings at lower resolutions. As a silent solution goes these might be for you, you can get 1080p gameplay performance with absolutely no noise, but don't expect to go beyond that for gaming. For a lower price you can find a Radeon HD 6950 with a custom cooler that may provide a better overall gameplay performance experience. As far as the most powerful silent CrossFireX solution goes, the two GIGBAYTE HD6770 Silent Cell video cards performed well enough, and silently. The question is though, is "well enough" something to settle on, or can a sacrifice be made in having a little noise, for faster performance in a single card? Some may need a silent solution, while others may not be concerned about a little noise if the gain is better gameplay. Kudos to GIGABYTE for giving us a choice.
