Sony BRAVIA KDL-40CX523 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

While some screens betray their bargain price by having some specification oddities, Sony’s KDL-40CX523 goes a different route. This CX523 has an absolute stack of specification highlights when you consider the price. It’s a Full HD, 1920 x 1080 panel, is ready to join your wireless network with the (extra cost) addition of a wireless dongle and is a firmware-upgrade away from being Skype-enabled.

AVForums‘s review Edit

Overall, with all its extra features and a generally pleasing image quality when set up correctly for the environment it is used in, the KDL-40CX523 offers end users a good quality LCD TV that we would be hard pushed not to recommend adding to your demo list if LCD is the only option for you.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The KDL-40CX523 is unexpectedly affordable for a 40-inch TV with exceptional multimedia flexibility and a Freeview HD tuner and its picture quality is an eloquent reminder that CCFL lighting is no poor relation to the currently more voguish edge LED systems now found on most LCD TVs. The above-average sound system completes the sort of set cash-strapped Sony fans must have been dreaming about.

There are things about the 40CX523 that do their best to irritate us - most notably its motion blur and slightly inconsistent backlight. But overall, given its price, it’s the TV’s AV strengths and, especially, its superb multimedia and online talents that linger most in the mind.
