Samsung Galaxy S II T-Mobile Pro Reviews

brighthand‘s review Edit

If you're on the market for a new smartphone, T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S II is a worthy contender. It performed well in all of my standard tests except for slow performance when using the GPS and included navigation apps.Photos and videos look really nice on the large screen, and the sound quality on the external speaker is very good. Voice quality is much better than usual, even though there were a few coverage issues (which says more about T-Mobile's network strength in my area than it does about this phone). It was hard to find any real negatives regarding this particular phone. The camera takes very nice shots too, and all of this adds up to a worthy upgrade from your current device, especially if you're pleased with T-Mobile's network coverage in your area.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

Like the HTC Amaze 4G, the Samsung Galaxy S II is a top-of-the-line smartphone on the T-Mobile network. It checks off the bulk of today's most-wanted features, and does so in a package that feels better to use than previous Galaxy handsets from Samsung. The T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S II includes the best hardware of the bunch, the same awesome display, the fastest wireless performance, and the best computing power. It’s a decent voice phone, works well with T-Mobile's networks, though battery life is highly variable. The Galaxy S II's camera is outstanding and delivers consistently good results when it comes to still images and video. The Galaxy S II offers plenty of options to consume music and video, and the large display is an entertainment center in your pocket. The software experience isn't stock Android, but Samsung's refinements to TouchWiz make it a breeze to use. It is flexible enough that most users will be able to adjust it to their tastes. T-Mobile and Samsung have a winner on their hands with the Galaxy S II. It is as good as the HTC Amaze 4G and gives the iPhone 4S a good run for the money. We can't say that it is light-years ahead of the competition, but it outshines them by a galaxy.

Engadget‘s review Edit

If you'd been hoping this Galaxy S II with the higher clock speed would wipe the floor with the previous models, we're sorry to say that's not quite the case. It is indeed quicker in web browsing and some other situations, but when it comes to gaming and multimedia it's actually a bit slower. The result is basically a wash, so if you're buying this guy over the others it's going to have to be on its other merits. There are naturally many merits to choose from here, but none of them vastly out-shine the AT&T or Sprint versions we've already spent a lot of time with. At the end of this proverbial day the T-Mobile Galaxy S II is very much the same its siblings -- and that is a very, very good thing. If you're on T-Mobile or were looking to get a little more magenta in your life this is an incredibly good choice. But, if you're already on Sprint or AT&T and are reasonably happy to stay there, pick up one of those versions instead. Whichever way you swing, you'll be getting a great phone.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile is priced at $229.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate. Of course, you will also need a two-year contract with the magenta colored wireless provider in order to qualify for the above price. When the original Galaxy S II was launched almost six months ago, it enjoyed the luxury of barely having any competition. It trounced everything compared to it and for a good reason – the Exynos chipset was simply faster than anything else. With Snapdragon S3 under the hood, the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II is not as assertive in its performance as the rest of the GSM sporting, Galaxy S II lineup. It does however, more than make up for the notable omission by offering you zippy network speed, a mammoth battery, and a bigger Super AMOLED Plus screen. Metaphorically speaking, you can get a lot of smartphone for hard earned $200 today. Let’s see what the most notable options out there are.

PC World‘s review Edit

The Samsung Galaxy S II is the best phone you can buy right now on T-Mobile. This is a top-of-the-line phone, and it's perfect for people who love larger screens. Though some people may find the handset a little too big, the inclusion of 4G and NFC means that this device won't feel dated down the line. If you crave true power from your smartphone, and if you want the best that your carrier has to offer, the Galaxy S II is the phone to get.

TheVerge‘s review Edit

The Galaxy S II for T-Mobile is exactly what you’d expect from a sequel: it’s faster, bigger, and a bit better put together. However, it’s not the standard-setting Android phone the Galaxy S was a year ago, mostly because competing phones have caught up, and — in some critical areas, like the display — even surpassed what the Galaxy S II brings to the table. It’s clearly one of the three best phones available on T-Mobile, along with the HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation. Choosing between the two is all about tradeoffs: the Amaze is $30 more, and is noticeably thicker and heavier, but its screen is far superior to the Galaxy S II and its camera more powerful. The Sensation, on the other hand, is a little less powerful but has the same great screen as the Amaze and an even lower price point.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

If you somehow don’t mind paying a huge premium right now, or simply have an unlimited cash flow, we definitely recommend checking out the Motorola DROID BIONIC because it’s seriously the most future-proof device out of the three. Yes, it’s priced significantly higher, but you’re going to be presented with a device that’s packing lightning fast 4G LTE speeds and the additional functionality of Motorola’s Webtop experience – while offering all of the lovable aspects of Android in general. However, it doesn’t mean that the other two aren’t great alternatives, but rather, they’re reasonably priced high-end smartphones that will appease people with their performance. With the iPhone 4S, it isn’t necessarily classified as a next-generation iPhone, since it’s nothing more than an incremental upgrade. And with the Samsung Galaxy S II, it doesn’t quite behold the same blinding aura as it did when it first launched overseas back in the spring. In any event, they both have their strengths in offering an exceptional experience, but the Motorola DROID BIONIC simply IS the epitome of a cutting edge smartphone – plus, it helps when it performs handsomely in a variety of departments.

The Samsung Galaxy S II combines a blistering dual-core processor, a terrific screen, and fast HSPA+ 42 speeds to make it the top Android smartphone available on T-Mobile right now.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

While I am really a fan of the equally new HTC Amaze 4G on T-Mobile USA, I think the Galaxy S II wins the title of best available from the carrier. It's a great device with solid software in an admittedly boring design. But you forget that when you see the large, super colorful display and experience the sheer speed of the device, which is unmatched in my experience.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

Of the new crop of superphones on T-Mobile's network, the $229 Samsung Galaxy S II is the most compelling. Not only does it serve up bleeding-edge performance and feature a lovely Super AMOLED Plus display, it also offers incredible endurance. Another high-octane option on T-Mobile is the $259 HTC Amaze 4G, which features fast 4G, dual-core power, and an even better camera. However, many will fall in love with the Galaxy S II's slim size, eye-catching screen, and swift 4G speeds--and we can't blame them.
