BIOSTAR TZ68A+ Ver. 6.x Pro Reviews

motherboards‘s review Edit

Don’t let the looks of this board fool you. It really does perform on par with much more expensive products. It isn’t going to satisfy everyone, but it will satisfy most. That is where Biostar has figured out their place in this market. They give their customers the best performance at the best price. In this respect they really don’t have any competition. The other manufacturers are determined to continue to produce products that don’t give nearly the cost versus performance ratio. They have boards that look better don’t live up to the hype where performance is concerned. Biostar knows what their customers have come to expect and they continue to beat their expectations. This isn’t an easy thing to do in such a fickle market. Motherboard manufacturers rise and fall based on the quality of their products. Features are great, but only as good as the performance of the board itself. If the quality isn’t there then it doesn’t matter how many features are included. Biostar consistently produces quality products that are just as good, if not better than their competitors’. This is a lesson that the other manufacturers might want to learn from.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

For an entry-level product, the Biostar TZ68A+ is a fantastic option, and we can clearly see its intended more for HTPC users than the mainstream enthusiast the chipset was intended for. The inclusion of the Lucid Virtu software is a definite treat, and the included video outputs ensure that no discrete GPU is needed, but more than welcome should more 3D power be required. If that situation arises, upgrade possibilites are quite large, and even the overclocking ability was much more than we had ever expected, and left us quite impressed. All of the outstanding issues, except the software and BIOS updating problems, are minor but those two specific issues, added with the mislabelling in the BIOS itself for some options, does bring up some serious concerns, which we hope Biostar seeks to address as soon as is possible. We cannot help but give the TZ68A+ a "Recommended" award, as all told, it did exceed our expectations. Good job, Biostar, just a few issues away from perfection is nothing to scoff at.
