Samsung Conquer 4G Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

If you want to pay next to nothing for a 4G smartphone, but want a little something after-all, the Samsung Conquer 4G (Sprint) should be considered. You certainly have other options out there, and they should be considered as well. But it's combination of price, profile, power, and ease of use is a force to be reckoned with. Just be sure that you know what you'll be getting. So long as you don't mind being locked out of some of today and tomorrow's apps, can handle a less than spiffy display, are able to tolerate less than perfect looking pictures, and figure out a way to hold the phone that will prevent the headphones from slipping out, you'll be fine.

I really want to love the Samsung Conquer 4G, because it's the first bargain-priced 4G phone from Sprint. It has some great features, such as a small/lightweight design and exceptional voice quality, but it's a bit hampered by a lackluster camera and relatively poor battery life when 4G is on. While it can't compete head-to-head with the big boys like the HTC ThunderBolt and EVO 3D, it's a good phone worthy of consideration by general consumers. If you're not a photo bug, the 3.2 megapixel camera isn't much of a downside, performance is good, and the voice quality is truly exceptional. You can certainly do much worse.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

The Conquer 4G is a great alternative to Sprint's other WiMAX handsets. It earns good marks on nearly every feature and offers access to Sprint's 4G network at a lower cost of entry. Basic performance of the Conquer 4G was good all around. The hardware is comfortable to use and feels well-made; the signal performance, display, and call quality are all above average, and the battery life is as good as any other Android smartphone. While the music and video options are somewhat ho-hum, the Conquer 4G excelled at taking pictures and shooting video, especially considering its low-spec camera. Browsing was quick, it offers plenty of optimization options, and with the availability of apps from the Android Market, the sky's the limit. The Samsung Conquer 4G definitely conquers the competition, and offers the best bang-for-the-buck in Sprint's smartphone stable.

Engadget‘s review Edit

Make no mistake: the Conquer 4G isn't a high-performance phone living at the top of the class. Rather than hiding from that fact, however, it accepts -- nay, embraces -- the challenge and makes the best out of its components. We came out of the review satisfied with the product; first-time smartphone buyers and shoppers on a budget could certainly choose worse phones to spend their hard-earned money on. Yet for a device listed at $100 after a two-year commitment, we couldn't help but wonder why a few extras (such as a better display or camera) didn't make the final cut. We feel it's still at least a sensible choice -- it just doesn't necessarily fit the given name printed on its birth certificate.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The Samsung Conquer 4G reminds us very much of the LG Optimus One in that it does what it is supposed to do well without costing an arm and a leg. The Conquer has 4G data, it has a fast processor and lots of memory but it isn’t fancy. The EVO family, the Photon, the Epic…they all try and be show stoppers. Samsung didn’t have to wow anyone with the Conquer 4G, but in the process of making an affordable, serviceable phone they managed to wow us quite pleasantly.
