Samsung ST93 Pro Reviews

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Considering the competitive price of the Samsung ST93 and the type of consumer that it's aimed at, the image quality is surprisingly good. We got some lovely pictures from it despite the terrible UK winter weather we had while the test was underway. Colours are rendered realistically without too much saturation and we like the fun effects that the camera has such as miniature mode and vintage camera effect. While these aren't new and certainly don't rock the boat, they're good enough to have a bit of fun with on a day out. If we were to be critical – and we have to be so that manufacturers will further improve their products- we don't like the Samsung ST93's slant which is supposed to make self portraits easier to do. It's subjective and one mans trash is another man's treasure. The ST93 shows excellent bravado in fighting noise, but it's a good job because the sensor suffers from it right from the start. We also found that every time we opened the battery door, the battery popped out despite having a locking clasp.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Samsung ST93 is a very easy-to-use, decent compact camera for someone that wants the opportunity to take good photos but isn't necessarily going to want to spend a large amount of money for a camera with a higher spec.

There's so much crammed into theSamsung ST93 that it seems you're getting much more for the money than a simple pocket snapper, and of course you are, well, at least to a degree.

The auto snapping modes are able to help you get faster more effective snaps, the image stabilisation works - but watch out for the introduction of image noise - and the many effects and fun filters that you can apply add further creativity into the mix, some are actually really rather good too.

The 16-megapixel resolution sensor is frankly overkill given the likely size the shots taken on this camera are likely to be used at, and yet, given enough light and enough time, you can get very decent results.

On the downside, the flash takes too long to recharge, the image noise at higher ISOs is intrusive and detail can be smeared away as the camera tries to deal with it.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

The ST93 is very much like a lot of the other Samsung compacts which we have reviewed recently, such as the ST90, with this model not offering any features which make it stand out from the competition. It has a very small body, 16.1 megapixel sensor and takes images with excellent colour production but at £129.99 it is overpriced.
