Having spent several hours with the G13 in each of these games, and lesser amounts of time in a variety of titles I regularly play, I’ve come away with the impression that the G13 doesn’t provide anything that you couldn’t obtain through the use of a standard keyboard. The concept seems wonderful, but there are many disadvantages that don’t immediately appear to be an issue. The key arrangement, for example, is problem. Many games bind weapon or ability selection to the top row of numeric keys, of which there are 10, but the Logitech G13 only has 7 in its top row, and one is meant to be used for movement, which leaves 6. This lack of symmetry increases the difficulty of remembering your bindings.

I’d say the coolness factor of the screen alone is worth the price of admission when compared to competing products, but the additional functionality of this gameboard will give gamers of any type a more immersive experience for sure. Not to mention fending off carpal tunnel for a few more years!

ExtremeTech‘s review Edit Like Unlike

No longer on the sidelines watching other companies release gaming keypads, Logitech and its G13 gameboard make a huge splash, and have by far released the best gaming keypad around, period. Sure, it'll cost you more than the others, but this is newer, flashier, and it has a freaking LCD screen that's badass.

When it comes to the hardware, the Logitech G13 Advance Gameboard is a nice device. Logitech has this configurable 25 key pad that fits very well to the hand with a rubber palm rest and a great contoured design. There is also a mini-joystick on the right hand side of the unit and to top off the product there is the very nice GamePanel LCD.

While not quite the consummate marvel we had hoped for, despite its flaws Logitech's G13 Advanced Gameboard is the most desirable gaming keypad on the market and justifies its high price with features like a programmable LCD screen and backlighting in any colour you could want. We can't wait to see how the inevitable sequel turns out.
