Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Pro Reviews

www.whatdigitalcamera.com‘s review Edit

The lens produces the best performance at around f/5.6, and holds that well through the middle of the aperture range before dipping down at f/16. Similarly the chromatic readings in the corners drop as the aperture is reduced, but still within limits of acceptability.

slrgear‘s review Edit

As we said above, most serious photographers have several prime lenses in their bag, and this 60mm f/2.8 would make a great early addition for many Rebel and 20D shooters. It's a great length for portrait shots (just knock down the sharpness a little in Photoshop(tm)), it's great for macro work, and delivers exceptionally sharp and distortion-free images. All in all, a great lens for the d-SLR shooter.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Excellent image quality is achievable due to the high resolution, lack of colour aberrations and great control of ghosting and flare. For the price, it represents excellent value for money.

The-Digital-Picture‘s review Edit

The Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens uses relatively inexpensive/small 52mm filters. The lens comes with no Lens Hood (I suggest purchasing the ET-67B Lens Hood) and no lens pouch. Excellent sharpness and very good overall image quality in a nice package - the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens will have many happy owners.

photozone‘s review Edit

So they do exist - high-performance lenses with an reduced image circle. The Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM macro delivers an almost flawless performance. The lens is capable to provide very sharp border-to-border results with minimal distortions and low CAs. The bokeh (out-of-focus blurr) is decent. The only really dirty spot on its otherwise clean vest is high vignetting at f/2.8 towards infinity focus but one stop down the issue is pretty much resolved.

Shutterbug‘s review Edit

If I could, I’d spend all my time hunting down bugs and lizards and any other critters small enough to fit inside a macro lens. Simply stated, I love macro. So I couldn’t wait to put the new EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens through its paces on my Canon EOS 20D digital SLR...
