Panasonic SC-BTT270 Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

Overall, the SC-BTT270 should be considered good value. For little over £300 you get a decent 3D Blu-ray player and a loud surround sound system. But there’s little doubt though that from a quality perspective the enclosures are trailing the electronics. Methinks it’s time for Panasonic to start taking loudspeaker design a little more seriously.

Acceptable audio, but a basic online portal and limited connectivity can't compete with better equipped sets from other manufacturers

Music courtesy of the iPod/iPhone compatible dock sounds as you might expect: satisfactory for background fodder, but you wouldn’t want to be getting a party started. It’s a little bright and insubstantial. We’re happier with the picture. Dark scenes lack a bit of insight, but otherwise it’s detailed with DVD and gives impressive depth with Blu-ray – even more so 3D content with a compatible TV. You can get better sound even at this money, but it’s churlish to gripe too much.

The amount of features on offer, coupled with the spellbinding pictures and crisp, dynamic surround sound, makes the SC-BTT270 worth considering. Sure, it lacks built-in Wi-Fi, there are some sonic shortcomings and 2D conversion isn’t quite as good as it sounds. But even so, there are enough positives to earn this system a place on your shortlist.
