ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional Pro Reviews

HotHardware‘s review Edit

Out of all the boards in this round up, we thought this one looked the most interesting. Of course, everyone has different tastes, but we have to give props to ASRock for designing this beauty and slapping an affordable price tag on it. It looks a lot more like a $400 board than a $200 board. Besides the aesthetics, the P67 Professional came out on top in several benchmarks, including SANDRA's physical disk benchmarks and STALKER. And it did so while consuming the least amount of power during full load. Overall, the Fatal1ty P67 Professional has the looks and performance required to be an excellent board for the money.

ASRock does have some work to do on fine tuning the overclocking performance on the board (nothing some changes in the BIOS can't fix, though) and need to correct the THX driver activation issue along with the Fatal1ty mouse port problem. However, these two items do not take away from what you are really getting and that is a good gaming platform with some extras on the side. The dual GBe LAN ports with an option for Teaming, three-way SLI or Crossfire, and excellent power efficiency and cooling all go to add value to this board.

The gaming performance of the ASRock Fatal1ty Professional P67 motherboard was right on track with all of the Intel P67 offerings that we have looked at so far. In fact, it was even able to lead the pack at times. If I could change anything about the ASRock Fatal1ty Professional P67 motherboard there wouldn't be much. The only feature I would change is eliminating the IDE and Floppy headers. If this were an entry level motherboard, sure throw them on there for people looking to use the old hardware out of an existing system. The ASRock Fatal1ty Professional is aimed at the enthusiast market, and very few are going to use a floppy disk drive or an old and out-dated IDE hard drive. I suppose that the presence of the IDE and floppy disk headers does open the market up to this board just a little bit more.

Seeing Fatal1ty back in the motherboard business is welcoming because it brings a stronger emphasis on how vendors need to optimize their products to accomodate specific audiences like high-end gamers. Fatal1ty is by far one of the most well-known PC gamers of our generation, and his brand continues to be linked to great hardware.
