Xerox Phaser 6010 Pro Reviews

For the most part, the Phaser 6010 is a generic desktop color laser printer. It’s very light and compact, and very quiet, even when printing. It’s not as fast as a few of the other color lasers in its price class that we’ve recently tested, but given the very high quality of the output, we don’t see any user being unhappy about getting 10ppm from the printer. Supply costs are a bit on the high side. Unfortunately, this isn’t uncommon, but the ability of the Phaser 6010 to print only in monochrome mode helps saves on toner costs. The Phaser 6010 lacks two features which would have raised its score: Wi-Fi connectivity and automatic duplexing, the latter of which is becoming a standard feature in printers at this price level and helps save even more money. The Phaser 6010 is a nice compact printer, and would work well at home or at school. But you can get a desktop color laser for about the same money that provides Wi-Fi and duplexing.

The Xerox Phaser 6010 looks cool, is very compact, works comparatively fast and produces excellent quality documents but it's let down by the heavy cartridge cost and lack of any auto duplex capability.

A nice little colour printer, but the page print cost is far too high. Against better-value black-and-white laser printers and inkjet models that produce colour pages for under 5p, it looks like very poor value.

For offices with moderate printing needs, this budget-price color model produces excellent-quality documents, and prints them quickly.

It's such a shame, when Xerox has virtually everything right about this machine, that it should hamper it with over-inflated consumable costs. It's a quiet, convenient, well-designed printer, which would be ideal in many a small and home office. If you rarely print colour, it's a viable choice, if not, you're looking at over £1 for every five pages.

It was hard to find a flaw with the Xerox Phaser 6010 because it is what Xerox advertises: a compact, easy to use LED printer that provides quality prints for a solid initial price tag. The things I mention in the cons list are minor; the monochrome print speeds didn't hit 15 ppm in our tests and there is no automatic duplexing option, a fairly common feature found on business models. I would definitely recommend this unit to professionals who work from home or to small businesses looking to add color to their workflow for a reasonable price. It fits on the smallest and messiest of desks, it's easy to set up and use, and provides great print quality.
