Panasonic VIERA TX-P65VT30 Pro Reviews

hdtvtest‘s review Edit

If you’re interested mainly in 2D viewing and want the biggest, and by most people’s estimation, the best consumer Plasma TV available at the time of writing, then this is it. Running the newest system software (firmware), the Panasonic TX-P65VT30 is a slightly refined, jumbo-sized version of the 50″ VT30 model we reviewed previously. It features the usual Panasonic Plasma strengths: class-leading black levels which act as a canvas for rich, vibrant video images, freedom from any sort of viewing angle restrictions (the picture looks as good from the sides as it does face-on), a motion rendering method that’s very crisp (although not entirely trouble-free), and very low video processing delay, which is excellent news for gamers. It also features excellent colour accuracy, and, if calibrated, excellent Greyscale accuracy, too (although we think the out-of-the-box Greyscale accuracy could be improved, because like most of the 2011 models, pictures have a slight green cast to them before calibration).

If you aren’t convinced that the Panasonic TX-P55VT30 is big enough for your abode, then perhaps this 65in version will suffice. The jump in size does mean it has to work a little harder, but a set of this calibre is more than up to the task. Size is the only difference between this Panasonic and the 55in model.

With the P65VT30, Panasonic has delivered the single most ‘serious’ home cinema television money can currently buy. Yes, you might spot the occasional irritation along the way, but for the vast majority of your viewing time the biggest problem you’re likely to have is the puddle of drool that keeps appearing at your feet.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Overall, though, this is a traffic stopper of a TV. The quality of Panasonic's VT30 panel and the accompanying picture engine isn't diminished by the size of the screen beast. Indeed, if anything it's enhanced, with 3D a spectacular beneficiary. It's almost like having your own personal IMAX.

The TX-P65VT30 is an imposing goliath of a gogglebox. If you’re looking for a larger than life do-it-all TV with a price tag to match, then this monster is well worth tracking down.

AVForums‘s review Edit

Ultimately the P65VT30 is a superb display that offers a reference performance in terms of blacks, dynamic range, image accuracy and 3D. It is only the continuing minor issues with 50Hz material that stop the P65VT30 from getting a reference score overall but this shouldn't put you off giving this beauty a demo. Is the P65VT30 the Kuro replacement that the enthusiast has impatiently been waiting for? Quite possibly and it is certainly an excellent display that offers exceptional big screen performance - highly recommended.
