Flip MinoHD Pro Reviews

Digital Trends‘s review Edit

Though image quality has taken a dramatic step forward from previous Flip camcorders, the MinoHD remains the kind of camcorder you will only likely use for short clips and capturing tomfoolery due to its lack of adjustability and real camcorder features, like focus and zoom. That said, its image quality took us completely off guard for the size and weight of the camera, and now that YouTube accepts clips in 720p, all that detail will reach your final audience, too. But with a price tag of $230, a point-and-shoot cam with similar 720p video capabilities might be a better investment. You can pick up Kodak’s V1253, for instance, for $250, and it will shoot 12-megapixel stills, too.

There's a lot to like about the MinoHD, particularly its compact dimensions, good-quality video and great software.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Flip MinoHD is undoubtedly a healthy evolution of a popular product, but like its predecessors it can suffer from being a bit too simplistic and omitting some key features that may still be helpful for beginners. As pocket camcorders go though, it's an impressive device and for the most part ticks enough of the bigger boxes to outweigh our more minor grievances. Those who prioritise portability without sacrificing quality will still find the MinoHD to be a highly capable solution.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

The Flip Mino HD proved to be adept in all the situations we could throw at it too so it undoubtedly performs much better than vast majority of mobile phones out there too which are undoubtedly its main competitors. There are larger alternatives with better specifications but none of them are as small and so easy to use...

reghardware‘s review Edit

We’ve always admired the simplicity of the Flip range, and the compact design and improved image quality of the Flip Mino HD do make it a very attractive option for anyone that wants a high-quality camcorder that they can just slip into their pocket when they leave home. However, with the price now rising to £170, it’s disappointing that the Flip Mino HD still has such a limited range of features.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Ideal for slinging in a rucksack or jeans pocket for a day’s sightseeing or a trip to the beach, the Flip MinoHD is an affordably priced, amazingly straightforward piece of gadgetry that records good-looking footage you won’t be ashamed to revisit a few months or years down the line.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The MinoHD is similar in form to its predecessor, the Flip Mino, but it records at a resolution of 1280 x 720 instead of VGA 640 x 480.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

On paper, the $229 Flip Mino HD doesn’t stand a chance against the Kodak Zi6, which won LAPTOP’s Editors’ Choice: it costs $50 more, doesn’t take digital stills, has a cramped screen, and lacks a memory card slot. But the Mino HD delivers comparable 720p video, and it is smaller and easier to use. We recommend both: the Zi6 offers the most features for the money, but the Mino HD is worth the extra bucks for people who want a pocket cam that can, you know, actually fit in their pocket.

A little pricey, but the best quality we've yet seen from an HD pocket video camera.

Camcorderinfo‘s review Edit

Unless YouTube starts hosting HD video soon, you're probably better off with the standard definition Flip Mino. If you're eager for an HD camcorder, consider Kodak Zi6, which does have an HD-out connection, or a more expensive, full-featured HD camcorder from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, or Sanyo.
