GALAXY GeForce GTX560 Ti GC Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

We are impressed with the overclock the Galaxy GeForce GTX 560 Ti GC achieved. We are also continued to be impressed by the cooling solution on this video card. When not over-volted we reached 975MHz core frequency on the Galaxy GTX 560 Ti GC, but by pushing up the voltage we managed a stable frequency over 1GHz. At 1150mv the 1015MHz core frequency and 2030MHz shader frequency allowed an increase between 12-17% performance improvement. This improvement will certainly help your gameplay experience at 1920x1200. We wouldn’t say this is exactly a 2560x1600 video card though even with these overclocks. We attempted to play some games, such as BC2 at 2560x1600 with the overclock. Even at 2560x1600 with NO AA performance was not fast enough with the overclock to consider it playable. This overclock will simply make your 1920x1200 experience better.

The Galaxy GTX 560 Ti GC is another great incarnation of the GTX 560 and probably one of the best looking ones due to that aggressive nature of the shroud and those two mean looking 90mm fans that sit on top of the card. If you can pick up a card like this one which carries the same MSRP as a reference designed card from NVIDIA and then proceed to crank the core up to around the 950MHz mark and the memory to around the 4400MHz QDR, you're going to have one of, if not the best valued card on the market. NVIDIA has done a good job with this model and the fact that they've let their partners go crazy from launch day means it's a whole lot more exciting than what some of the competition has to offer.

The Galaxy GTX 560 Ti GC offers some unique features for gamers such as the custom cooling fan design with easy access for cleaning. Two large flip fans this time 'round. The factory overclock doesn’t add anything to the gameplay experience, but overclocking is supported, and with the custom cooling it has potential for some high GPU frequencies. (We will be following up on this article with an article focused on Galaxy GTX 560 Ti overclocking. Hopefully the card shines in this area. We just did not have time to get to it by the embargo time.) Price-wise Galaxy is not asking an arm and a leg for its custom PCB and custom cooling equipped 560 Ti, thank goodness. Current price on Amazon is $257, which is worth it for the improved cooling of the GPU if you are going the 560 Ti route.

Galaxy's card offers some great temperatures as well as a unique "spin" on the fan design with a fold-out feature that allows for easy cleaning. All three cards are overclocking competitively with each other in our testing so if you are able to use some tweaking software you'll likely be able to put all three of these cards on an equal playing field. MSI and Galaxy also take the edge in pricing - a $20 gap can be pretty tempting when it comes to graphics cards in the price range.
