HTC Arrive Pro Reviews

pocketnow‘s review Edit

In a market where smartphone sales are driven by functionality and speed. It seems odd that HTC and Sprint would release a device with one-year old hardware. That being stated, the HTC Arrive provides both. With the improvement seen in the latest update to Windows Phone 7. The Arrive becomes a shinning beacon of optimism for consumers debating whether or not to invest in a Windows Phone 7 device. If Microsoft continues to listen to consumers and provide enhancements to the OS Windows Phone 7 will surly be a contender along with Android and iOS.

If and when the price drops to the $100 range, it definitely is great phone for those of you that need a slide-out keyboard.

The HTC Arrive is the best non-4G smartphone on Sprint. It offers a great feature set, battery life is decent, and the QWERTY keyboard is quite good. That said, I wish the display wasn’t so angled, and Sprint’s aging EVDO Rev. A network leaves a lot to be desired on the data front. Considering that the “premium data” charge now applies to all smartphones – one of the initial cons to the 4G devices - there’s no reason not to go with one of the 4G phones. It’s also $199.99, which puts it in the range of the HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Epic 4G, and HTC EVO Shift 4G. Be sure to check it out in the store prior to purchasing to decide if it's the device for you.

The HTC Arrive is a good device, and a solid choice if you're looking for a Windows Phone 7 device. HTC Arrive from SprintThere are a few hardware issues, such as difficult to use volume and camera buttons and a physical keyboard that lacks real definition. The screen and the voice quality are excellent, though, and the only major problems I had were with the camera and with the navigation experience, which was sometimes great and other times offered nothing more than error messages. If you're looking for a great voice phone with a good gaming and entertainment experience, the HTC Arrive deserves a second look -- just make sure you know where you're going ahead of time, just in case.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

The HTC Arrive is a solid device. While it doesn't offer much new in the way of software features, it brings WP7 to Sprint for the first time and does so with a hardware keyboard that business users might appreciate. Personally, I find the Arrive to be a bit bulky and heavy, and the keyboard is not among my favorite features, but the build quality is excellent, and the phone still feels good to hold and use.

PC World‘s review Edit

The HTC Arrive is the first Windows Phone 7 phone for Sprint, but it doesn't offer anything new that we haven't already seen in other WP7 phones other than the fact that it is a CDMA phone. If you are on Sprint and have been desperate to try out a new smartphone OS, the Arrive is worth checking out. For others, it may be worth waiting to see what other WP7 phones are coming down the pipeline or choosing one of Sprint's many Android offerings, like the almost identical HTC EVO Shift 4G.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Speaking from the same perspective, if you’ve never used Windows Phone 7 before in your life, please do yourself a favor and give it a test drive. It’s cool, it’s new, and it has, again, a lot of potential. If you’re in a position where you’ve never used a smartphone before, well then, you’ve got quite a decision before you. I will say this: the switch between Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android is going to be much easier for a person than either will be to or from Windows Phone 7. For certain.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

In the end Windows Phone 7 is a work in progress, but off to a good start. As noted we had issues with multimedia sync which shows that there are still kinks that need to be worked out. Since all Windows Phones are basically identical on the software end, it’s the hardware that differentiates them. The HTC Arrive is one of the better built phones we’ve used, and we love the size, physical keyboard and trick hinge. The camera left some to be desired, but overall it’s a win. Right now HTC has a captive audience in the CDMA works, but when other WP7 devices are released they have a pretty high hardware bar to achieve.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The HTC Arrive, Sprint's first Windows 7 phone, is a solid effort that largely delivers, although it will disappoint those looking for a 4G smartphone.

The HTC Arrive is a solid Windows Phone 7 for Sprint, but it's stuck in the Internet slow lane.

A large keyboard, tilt-up display, and strong audio quality make the HTC Arrive a satisfying Windows Phone 7 device.
