Sapphire HD6970 2GB GDDR5 BFBC2 VIETNAM Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

SAPPHIRE has four Radeon HD 6970's listed on its website. What sets this card apart from the rest is the sticker on the front of the card, and the aluminum brief case it comes in. Unfortunately the offer for the free game expired, so that is no longer valid or a value added onto this video card. Given that, you might want to look for the "Game Edition" video card, which has everything this video card has minus the briefcase, in other words, just the card, with a pretty sticker, and voltage tweaking. SAPPHIRE built an extremely solid card that performed admirably in our testing. Since you cannot get the free game anymore, the only differences between this version and the others are the box and art on the card, we feel that SAPPHIRE's other HD 6970's would provide similar performance, but with better availability. We just wish SAPPHIRE had attached a custom fan to this video card, or something to set it apart from its other models. You can get a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6970 for as low as $329.99 after rebate, which is apparently out of stock at the moment. At that price, the 6970 is more appealing. The SAPPHIRE HD6970 BFBC2:Vietnam Special Edition provided a better gameplay experience compared to the GeForce GTX 570, which can be found for $284.99 after MIR, and competed above or on par with the GeForce GTX 580 which was more expensive at $429.99 after MIR. With the reference fan and SAPPHIRE's TriXX utility, we achieved a great overclock that allowed it to make up in the games it lost to with the GTX 580. As long as you can get this video card, or the BFBC2: Vietnam Game Edition version, for less than a GeForce GTX 580, which you can, it is a good value. Personally, we wouldn't spend over $400 for any Radeon HD 6970 video card, as you can get plenty of them for well under $400, and at that pricing, it provides a greater value over the GeForce GTX 580. Stay tuned, we have more SAPPHIRE goodness for you coming up soon with the brand new SAPPHIRE HD6950 TOXIC video card, SAPPHIRE can do custom video cards, and you won't want to miss our review.
