JVC Everio GS-TD1 Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

It goes without saying, but without the correct TV setup the GS-TD1 is largely pointless. The 3D quality is among the best we’ve seen from a consumer camcorder, but the proprietary files means playback is limited to a direct TV connect. A decent camcorder, but other forces look set to conspire against it.

reghardware‘s review Edit

Make no mistake; JVC’s GS-TD1 is a highly specialised camcorder. I certainly wouldn’t advocate buying it unless you have a serious interest in 3D photography. However if 3D is an area you want to be creative in, this is by far and away the best non-broadcast class model I’ve seen and puts in an excellent performance.

JVC has really set the bar when it comes to consumer level 3D video recording with its dual-HD lens system providing superb 3D imagery, backed up by low-light sensors and decent stereo sound. It might even be enough to persuade you that 3D is here to stay.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

Although we’re still not entirely convinced by 3D either as a domestic viewing format or for grabbing your home movies, JVC has at least created a product with potential to cross over into the semi-professional arena. Where the Panasonic consumer models so far have been very limited in 3D mode, the GS-TD1 behaves similarly whether you’re shooting with or without the third dimension. This makes greater creative possibilities available, so the GS-TD1 has the potential to appeal to student filmmakers or even experimental videographers on a budget. Unfortunately, the price is at least £1,400 from most stores, so only the very richest hobbyists will be interested. But otherwise this is the most competent consumer-oriented 3D camcorder yet.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The JVC Everio GS-TD1 redefines what we can expect of a 3D camcorder. This shooter may be a tad cumbersome, but compared to a pro-rig it’s a masterpiece of compact engineering. We loved the unparalleled creative control on offer, and 3D image quality is excellent. Overall, this is a remarkable piece of kit. The Everio GS-TD1 is as special as it is specialised. It sets a new benchmark for 3D camcorders, delivering footage which can rival the clarity of Blu-ray (camera person not withstanding). If you’re eager to shoot and edit in 3D, then our advice is to audition it immediately.

We have to give JVC props for taking a huge step forward in home video, leaping from 2D to 3D with the GS-TD1.
