Canon PowerShot A3300 IS Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Canon's entry-level A series of PowerShots has long been known for its balance of solid performance and low price, and the PowerShot A3300 IS is no exception. It's easy to use, it takes good-looking photos without any hassle, and it even throws in a few higher-end creative modes to play around with. Usually, you get what you pay for. In this case, you get quite a bit more than you'd expect out of a sub-$200 camera.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The A3300 IS will appeal to those for whom the highest pixel count possible is a major draw. While we’re hard pressed to see the detail an extra two million pixels bring (except perhaps marginally more image noise at higher ISOs), the slightly larger 3-inch screen on this camera compared with its slightly cheaper sibling is arguably more advantageous on a daily basis. Otherwise save yourself the extra £20 over the PowerShot S3200 IS and go out and spend it on a curry instead.

Images from the Canon were bright, clear and evenly exposed. In fact they were some of the best we've seen from an entry-level camera that isn't a Nikon. The A3300 is a safe camera for first-time users – cheap but reliable.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Considering the number of high-spec features this camera has - namely its 16mp sensor, 5x optical zoom and HD video mode - the A3300 IS is very reasonably priced. As such, it's likely to be of great appeal to anyone looking for a user-friendly compact that offers just that little bit extra. With an intuitive user interface, good selection of exposure modes, decent build quality and the ability to produce very pleasing stills and movies, there's a lot going for this low-priced PowerShot.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

Canon's "Smart Auto" mode stands, in my opinion, head and shoulders above those of their competitors. If you want to take great pictures but you don't want to have to worry about anything technical, rush out and buy this one. The A3300 is an ideal first digital camera, an excellent choice as an "always in Mom's purse" family camera, and a very good choice for travelers who want a small, lightweight, relatively tough and fairly inexpensive "go anywhere" digicam.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

It's an easy to use camera with a good, clear menu and intuitive controls. The design of the Canon Powershot A3300 is nice although from a personal point of view, we feel that the command dial looks a little awkward design wise and it may have been better redesigning the back to fit it on there. Not that it impairs the cameras performance in any way. For the price that the camera is set at, you get a lot for your money. We'd expect more noise at low to mid-range ISO settings and a slower camera. If you're on the look out for an attractive little compact for holidays or days/nights out then the Canon Powershot A3300 IS is a good camera to consider.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Canon PowerShot A3300 is one of those cameras your expert buddy (um, like me) would lead you right past at the camera counter of the BigBuy Store. It's not that it's unattractive (it's nicely sculpted, actually), but it's simple. Just a lens with a Shutter button, a Mode dial, controls and an LCD. In fact, all the interesting things about the Canon A3300 are inside. A decent zoom range for the good 16-megapixel images, optical stabilization, 720p HD video, an intelligent Auto mode, a Live view of exposure adjustments, and fun creative filters.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

By introducing new features like Creative filters and Live View control, Canon has succeeded admirably. With these new features, the PowerShot A3300 IS genuinely brings something fresh to point-and-shoot photography. In addition, there are other tangible improvements including a wider zoom range, HD video and a higher resolution sensor. It all adds up to a very compelling point-and-shoot compact.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

For just £122 the A3300 IS represents excellent value for money, thanks to its 16Mp sensor which produces excellent images. The mode dial makes using the camera even easier than most compact cameras and the filters make it really easy to add that extra bit of creativity to your images. The Canon PowerShot A3300 IS comes recommended by ePHOTOzine.
