Motorola CLIQ 2 Pro Reviews

pocketnow‘s review Edit

The Motorola Cliq 2 is by far a vast improvement over the original Cliq. It seems odd that T-Mobile did not include the hardware for the Cliq 2 to access their 4G network. The MotoBlur user interface is either a hit-or-miss with Android users, people that do a lot of social networking may find MotoBlur useful, whereas people that don’t may find it obnoxious. Although the hardware of the Cliq 2 is similar to other Android 2.2 devices being released, navigating through menus and accessing apps is slow.

phonedog‘s review Edit

The CLIQ 2 may not be the best of the best, but it is a good device and competitively priced. Bordering both mid-range and high-end, it is a viable option for both smartphone newcomers and repeat users that don't want to spend a fortune on a great Android phone.

Phone Scoop‘s review Edit

The Motorola Cliq 2 takes everything that was good about the original Cliq (Motorola's first Android handset) and kicks it up a notch. It's a wee bit larger and heavier, but the improved construction and drastically increased performance make this Android 2.2 handset a charmer in T-Mobile's lineup.

PC World‘s review Edit

The Cliq 2 is fast, has a multitude of entertainment and enterprise features, and is nicely designed. It's also incredibly affordable, especially for a 4G 1GHz phone running the latest version of Android. If you take a lot of pictures with your phone, though, you might opt for the T-Mobile myTouch 4G or the Samsung Vibrant, both of which have better cameras.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The original Motorola Cliq was innovative for its social-networking focus; this revised model adds a significantly updated OS, plus a big boost in CPU power and screen resolution.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

Compared to its predecessor, the CLIQ 2 is a huge improvement. The display and build-quality are particular stand-outs, as is the performance from the 1GHz processor, and we prefer MOTOBLUR when it’s not so all-encompassing. Unfortunately, it’s still not the perfect smartphone: the QWERTY keyboard falls short of the usability you’d expect, and we prefer the ‘board from the T-Mobile G2. Both the CLIQ 2 and the G2 are priced at $99.99 (with a new, two-year agreement and rebates) from T-Mobile, and in the end we prefer HTC’s handset over the Motorola. The CLIQ 2 is a solid option, but it lacks the sparkle necessary in today’s crowded smartphone marketplace.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The Motorola CLIQ 2 is a fantastic update to the original CLIQ, offering all of the expected features of old with a shiny new coat of varnish. The CLIQ 2 is faster, offers a far better display, and simply outclasses the original in nearly every way. What it lacks, though, is HD video recording and HSPA+ data speeds. But considering its $100 price point, it's still a good value for T-Mobile subscribers looking for an Android QWERTY smartphone.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The Motorola Cliq 2 has some things going for it, including a social networking-friendly interface and much faster performance than the original Cliq. The keyboard is definitely unorthodox, but it works fairly well once you get the hang of it. In this price range we prefer the $99 T-Mobile G2, which offers a slicker design and 4G speeds (even if its Z hinge gives us some pause). And if a physical keyboard isn't a necessity, the myTouch 4G adds a front-facing camera for the same price. Overall, the Cliq 2 is a mostly satisfying sequel, but it's not the best choice.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

First and foremost, we're glad to see that the Motorola CLIQ 2 received some reasonably upgraded specs over its predecessor – like its high resolution display and 1GHz processor. Secondly, it's far better in terms of design and construction with its refined choice of materials. Additionally, we easily like that the keyboard has a decent look and feel to it over the original which adheres to the needs of messaging oriented users out there. In reality, it does everything right when you consider the fact that it's a successive device that doesn't steer off the mid-range category that it's targeting.
