Samsung SH100 Pro Reviews

reghardware‘s review Edit

For its target market the Samsung SH100 camera seems to tick all the boxes. It is a shame that the two main disappointments – responsiveness of the touchscreen and ISO performance – go to the very core of its function. Yet I don’t think these factors are real deal-breakers, especially for a camera that, if you shop around, can be found for nearly half the manufacturer’s asking price. If you’re looking for a highly connected, intuitive compact that won’t break the bank – and you own a compatible Android phone or Tablet – then the Samsung SH100 seems the most obvious and sensible choice.

The SH100 hold s a lot of promise just from browsing down its spec sheet. The Wi-Fi connectivity is a great thing to have at this price point and shows Samsung's commitment to future technologies that few other manufacturers have in their camera ranges. The biggest issue with the SH100 is that the touchscreen isn't very responsive to the lighter touch, and this can hinder the shooting process. As there are few shooting buttons there's no choice but to utilise the touchscreen technology. The SH100's images are acceptable and ideal for day-to-day snaps, but shouldn't be thought of for more critical or fine detail use. It's when weighing up the low price point and all the technology that's crammed into this small, stylish-looking compact that it's hard to fault. For little over the £100 mark the SH100 has a lot more on offer than its competitors, if only its touch sensitivity was a little more practical.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

With prices starting at just over £100, the Samsung SH100 has plenty to offer. It's suitable for most users but people going travelling will find it especially useful thanks to the Wi-Fi capability. If you need a pocket camera to take on holiday or you're a social networker that needs immediate connection for your pictures, then this is the camera for you.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The Samsung SH100 is a great bargain for $200. You can certainly find more-camera-minded cameras than the SH100, but this ultracompact snapshooter distinguishes itself from the bargain-bin pack with its wireless sharing features, fun extras, and solid image and video quality. We wish that its Remote Viewfinder features were compatible with more phones than just the Samsung Galaxy S line, but this is about as feature-loaded as a $200 camera gets. The key drawbacks are its toylike size and heft, its sometimes-frustrating touchscreen, and its lack of manual shooting modes.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The SH100’s real selling point is its low price. Although it was more upon launch, there are plenty of stores and sites listing various colour options for between £105-120. Consider all the technology that’s been squeezed into this dinky compact and that’s a real bargain. Sure there are some issues with the touchscreen’s responsiveness and the images are of reasonable rather than great quality, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a more technological compact camera for just over the £100 mark.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

A compact camera with built-in Wi-Fi, whilst perhaps not an over-riding consideration for the average happy snapper at the point of purchase, certainly has its uses and moreover in the case of the SH100 actually works, and works simply. OK, it's not the only option for sharing photos, but more methods rather than fewer is always welcome. Plus, as we noted at the start of this review, with the SH100 Samsung is targeting the smartphone generation, so it makes sense that it showcases a similar interface and operability.

trustedreviews‘s review Edit

Overall, the Samsung SH100 is a neat little point-and-shoot that offers some innovative Wi-Fi features and can more than stand its ground in the image quality stakes too, yet it's priced little higher than many less well equipped compacts. If picture sharing and connectivity are at the top of your priorities the SH100 is well worth a closer look. As it is, we’re scoring it a low eight out of ten. If it were not for the poor LCD screen and clunky touch-screen controls, then we’d have no hesitation in awarding at a TrustedReviews ‘Recommended’ badge too.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

In terms of picture quality, performance is consistent with other Samsung compacts we have reviewed of late, with excellent colour reproduction. This particular model differs from the rest with its Wi-Fi connectivity and touch screen which both prove to be a welcome addition. The Wi-Fi means that images and videos can be shared quickly and easily, at home or on the move, on sites such as Facebook. The Smart Filters on offer here are good and they are also available for use on videos as well. Available from just £112.00, the Samsung SH100 is certainly great value for money for a camera which does something a little bit different from the others.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Samsung SH100 offers some exciting wireless-sharing features, like tight integration with Samsung Android phones. But noisy images and a lack of optical image stabilization limit this pocket camera's appeal.
