Samsung WB700 Pro Reviews

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Samsung WB700 is a very capable camera. It's a good looking unit with a simple to use interface and lots of modes and features to entertain any level of photographer. Entry level users will enjoy the simplicity of the smart auto mode while more adventurous usersand keen photographers will be happy with the manual controls. The only feature we could find fault with was the miniature effect. On other Samsung cameras, the line between sharp and blurred at the top and bottom of the frame has been a gradual fade. On the WB700, the line definition is alarmingly sharp.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Not quite stunning yet far from terrible, for those point and shooters looking for a big zoom on a £150+ budget, but not a big camera to go with it, the pocket-sized WB700 from Samsung should fit the bill. OK, so not all its specs are high end - there's no Full HD video, and we don't get the likes of integral GPS that rival (albeit pricier) models are now offering. But certainly the results from this camera suggest that the WB700 is about more than making do, and for the current street price we can have very few quibbles.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Amateur users will enjoy the fun elements and large zoom while keen photographers will welcome the manual controls however limited the aperture is. The addition of a histogram is also a welcome feature for the more advanced user. The rating of the camera reflects the good points. We feel that the bad points are negligible compared to the good points.

Comprehensive manual controls and a generous 18x zoom, but it can't compete for image quality or performance

When comparing image quality the SZ-10 is the winner here, but you may be swayed by some of the features on the WB700 such as the full manual controls and ISO up to 3200.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

With its full manual controls and large amount of optical zoom the WB700 is an ideal camera for those who are wanting a more advanced camera than a simple compact. Image quality is OK, colour reproduction is good and so is noise performance. It's unfortunate that Motion Capture mode can only shoot VGA quality images which means decent sports pictures are only going to be possible in good light by setting the shutter speed manually. If you are looking for a compact for travelling and aren't likely to be capturing fast moving subjects then the WB700 comes recommended.
