Sapphire PI-AM3RS785G Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

The Sapphire PURE 785G AM3 that we paired up with the Athlon II X4 620 is a real treat. Pair these two up, add some RAM and a Blu-ray drive and toss them in a small HTPC case and you have a great performing setup. HDMI output works great when paired with an HDTV or HDMI accepting device, and 3D performance, while not top-notch, is acceptable. Another great thing about the PURE 785G AM3: it uses the 785G chipset which is Windows 7 ready. No need to worry about drivers not working. Our installation of Windows 7 was flawless and everything ran like a champ.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

When it comes to the Sapphire Pure 785G motherboard, I have mixed feelings. Sure the board runs decent when plugged in at stock speeds, but it is still lagging when compared to another mainstream 785G-based motherboard. When it came to overclocking, there was not much there. Using a Phenom II X4 965, I was barely able to squeeze 300MHz more out of it without the system locking up. The integrated video is a huge bonus for applications when a more powerful card is not needed, which saves on the cost of the components for the computer. When you take into account the bottom line, if you are wanting the bare bones for a workstation build, this board would suit your needs.
