Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) Zeppelin Pro Reviews

Gizmodo‘s review Edit

This thing is expensive for a reason—it positively drips with engineering. If you have the money, and you want a great-sounding iPod/iPhone dock, buy this thing. You will not regret it.

Macworld‘s review Edit

The original Zeppelin impressed us with great sound quality, impressive design, and unique technology, and the Zeppelin Air bests its predecessor on each of those metrics, offering noticeably better sound quality, some useful design tweaks, and a number of technological improvements—first among them support for AirPlay—at the same price. Granted, that price is $600, and, as I noted when I reviewed the original Zeppelin, some of that money surely goes towards the B&W name. But there’s no question you’re also paying for a high-quality product.

There's no denying that the B&W Zeppelin Air is a very fine speaker indeed, and its quality and features make it hard to describe it as just iPod dock. Along with superb audio quality, the addition of Apple AirPlay makes this a great piece of AV kit, albeit a rather pricey one. The fact that you can use your iPhone or iPod as a fully functioning control is also a very classy touch.

Bowers & Wilkins has pulled off an engineering masterstroke with the Zeppelin Air. It still looks a million dollars, has even better sound reproduction than its predecessor and comes packing AirPlay. For these benefits it costs £100 more than the original Zeppelin, but if you can afford it and you don't mind being tethered to a power socket then it is money well spent.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

While the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air is as pricey as the earlier Zeppelin, Apple AirPlay support and improved sound quality make it a better value.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

With the Bowers and Wilkins name, you definitely pay for the name and visual design as much as the audio quality. But excellent-sounding Zeppelin Air iPod dock with wireless streaming via AirPlay does not disappoint.

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

It may be a master of the up-tempo, but the B&W also has the dexterity and subtlety to handle spare, minimal recordings without getting bored or being boring. The B&W Zeppelin retained its top billing for almost three years. That it has finally been beaten – by another determined British challenger – should not detract from its simple desirability and generally impressive sound. There’s life in the old dirigible yet.

The Zeppelin is one of the best-looking and best-sounding iPod docks around. However, its remote control isn't great and it's seriously expensive.
