Xerox ColorQube 8570DN Pro Reviews

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

It's difficult to recommend the Xerox ColorQube 8570DN over a midrange colour laser or LED printer. Buy it if you like what the solid-ink technology offers - convenience, economy, and low environmental impact - and you can tolerate the middling speed and print quality.

The Xerox ColorQube 8570/AND is a fast, expandable office printer, which is inexpensive to run and produces good quality black and colour print. It's print system is well up to comparison with the best laser print can offer and for high-colour prints and proofing, it's a particularly good alternative, though it is noisy.

This is a good, business printer for use in a busy office, but you have to wonder why you would choose a solid ink printer rather than a laser. The original solid ink machines were aimed at busy graphic designers and were often used for page proofs in publishing houses. Xerox pushes the low overall energy footprint of the machine, but this might not be enough to make the ColorQube 8570ADN your favoured choice…

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Xerox 8570n is certainly capable of producing professional quality documents very quickly, and has additional advantages from an environmental and paper-saving standpoint to add extra appeal. We're a little undecided about the design and build however, and as it stands this is still a fairly basic unit that, while suited for smaller office environments, doesn't really offer much extra in terms of convenience or increased productivity.

Xerox's ColorQube printers, including the $899 (as of October 19, 2010) ColorQube 8570DN, are unique in using solid-ink supplies rather than liquid ink or powdered toner. Unfortunately, the simplicity and economy of this technology come at the expense of its performance. The Dell 3130cn, which now offers a duplexing model for $600, is a compelling alternative, as is the Oki C610dtn.
