Vivitek H9080FD Pro Reviews

Home Theater‘s review Edit

Vivitek’s H9080FD is a first-generation LED-based projector, and it’s the first I’ve seen. It does a number of important things strikingly well, particularly color and gray-scale tracking. With its LED lighting, it should maintain this admirable performance over time. However, it doesn’t match the sharpness, blacks, or contrast of a number of the best high-end-priced projectors we’ve tested.

We can highly recommend that if you are in the market for a high-end solution and you have a bat cave, you have a look at the H9080FD.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

So neither of its flaws are insurmountable, and its many unique properties make the H9080FD an interesting proposition. Unfortunately though, many may be put off by the cost to even give it an audition. As with any new-fangled technological breakthrough, there's a premium attached, and ten grand may seem too much, regardless of its tasty light engine and superb longevity. It's hard to argue otherwise too, especially considering most rivals are roughly half the price. However, there's something exclusive about being a trendsetter.

Any doubts I may have had about LED's potential as a true home cinema technology have been comprehensively trounced by the H9080FD. It's a truly spectacular projector that can produce the sort of picture quality you never want to turn off. In fact, so good is this LED lighting debut that it's hard to imagine how the technology could be improved for its next generation. Perhaps the best way I can convey just how good the H9080FD is, though, is by saying that even though it costs £10,995, in my book it's actually something of a bargain.

ProjectorCentral‘s review Edit

The Vivitek H9080FD is revolutionary. It is more than just an LED projector - it is a serious home theater product that just happens to use LEDs for illumination. The distinction is fine, but important. This is not a gimmick product, nor is it merely a proof-of-concept. It is a projector that many of us would be proud to use in our own theaters. It has the best ANSI contrast we've yet seen, a broad color gamut, great saturation, a razor-sharp picture, and some nice ease-of-use features like lens shift - which, even while it is hard to adjust, has an overall range which exceeds that of most competitive 1080p DLP projectors.
