BIOSTAR TH55XE Ver. 5.x Pro Reviews

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

Biostar TH55XE provides a good cost/benefit for users looking for a motherboard for the new Core i3/Core i5 processors with integrated video loaded with features. Though not the cheapest board on the planet, it costs only USD 10 more than Intel DH55TC, providing far more features.

BIOSTAR has put together a great little enthusiast motherboard that does not break the bank weighing in at $115. Not everyone needs a micro-ATX motherboard, but those of you that do know who you are. Considering that we saw a huge 4.5GHz overclock with an Intel Core i5-661 processor, the BIOSTAR TH55XE might be just the board to put in your next HTPC build.

It's not a bad budget motherboard, but you can get higher performance for less.

AnandTech‘s review Edit

BIOSTAR have a tough sale on their hands; you've got product from ASUS and Gigabyte straddling the $115 mark while offering USB3 as a key feature. That means BIOSTAR have to do something a little bit better to justify their price-point. We looked hard, but have yet to find it. PCI-E slot layout is an oddity, because the PCI-E x4 slot sits too close to the x16 PEG connector, limiting upgrade options if you choose to go with a discrete GPU. Overclocking performance is not class leading in any department either. High memory speeds are possible, but S3 resume is limited somewhere between 160~165 BCLK if you try to keep a grip on memory controller performance.

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

Biostar mainboards have acquired reputation of products for thrifty overclockers and for a good reason. They are overclocker-friendly and offer advanced features you can see in other mainboards but at a more affordable price. Biostar TH55XE model is a good example of that. It is also going to be interesting for an inexperienced overclocker as you can easily speed it up using predefined profiles.
