ASUS ENGTX580/2DI/1536MD5 Pro Reviews

TechSpot‘s review Edit

In the 13 games we tested, the GeForce GTX 580 was on average a match to the Radeon HD 5970, 25% faster than the GeForce GTX 480 and 46% faster than the Radeon HD 5870. The GeForce GTX 580 is unquestionably the fastest single-GPU graphics card available today, representing a better value than any other high-end video card.

The ASUS ENGTX580 is a great video card, but its value is somewhat undermined by multi-GPU competition from AMD. It is definitely a premium implementation of the GeForce GTX 580. Everything about it oozes quality, from the packaging to the video card itself. As it is, it costs more than its closest price competitors, but it offers lower frame rates. On the other hand it doesn’t rely on effective multi-GPU performance scaling. It is also quieter and it uses less power.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

When you look at the performance delivered by the ASUS GTX 580 when run in its stock configuration, the numbers compare with the those of the reference GTX 580 with some increases here and there across the testing suite. The 10MHz improvement in base clock speed does offer up a small boost in games. Putting two of these cards together and using the Smart Doctor software suite has already resulted in the ASUS GTX 580 showing serious performance increases.

The ASUS ENGTX580 is a monster by itself, but when you run it in SLI the performance is mind blowing both mentally and for your wallet. At $1050 for an SLI setup you get the performance you pay for.

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

Taking all aspects of the ASUS GeForce GTX 580 into consideration, there's really a lot more to like about the Fermi architecture now. The GF110 graphics processor finally has its priorities straight, and the dramatically efficient power consumption levels have reduced heat output to their lowest level in many years. The expensive price tag on the GTX 580 is something consumers of premium top-end graphics products might already be used to, but it's hard to like a $500 price point

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 580 feels to deliver what I would have expected from the original GTX 480. The card is blazing fast, especially in newer DX11 titles it often beats AMD's dual-GPU flagship Radeon HD 5970. This performance upgrade helps NVIDIA solidify its leading position in single GPU performance. Another major area that NVIDIA has worked on is power consumption which is over 20% advanced compared to the GTX 480, but there is still about 30% to go to lock horns with AMD's latest HD 6800 Series. NVIDIA has also improved the fan noise of their card, making it the quietest card in 3D load when compared to other high-end cards in this performance segment

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Priced competitively at £399 and friendly to overclockers, the Asus GeForce GTX 580 is an obvious choice for those building a new gaming machine. If you've already got a high-end gaming machine, with a graphics card of the class of a GeForce GTX 480 or dual Radeon 5870s in CrossFire, upgrading to the GeForce 580 is a tougher decision - it may be worth waiting to see what the Radeon 6970 has to offer.
