ECS Elitegroup A790GXM-AD3 (V1.0/V1.0A) Pro Reviews

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

AMD790GX-based motherboards may seem expensive for a product with on-board video. But you have to keep in mind that it does not compete on the same segment as very low-end motherboards with integrated graphics. This happens because it is an ATX motherboard, not a micro ATX one, featuring two PCI Express x16 slots. The highlights from ECS A790GXM-AD3 include the presence of an HDMI output and on-board optical SPDIF output, making it very easy for you to hook up the computer to your home theater system, and use of solid capacitors.

Fudzilla‘s review Edit

ECS did a fine job. As long as you consider this board as gaming platform it works well. This board should arrive with a €100,- price-tag after CeBIT, that's why the features are quite limited. If you already have a DDR2 solution, there is really no reason to upgrade. In case you are considering buying a new system now, it's not an bad idea to opt for an AM3 CPU to be future-proof, but for the time being you can choose one of the many DDR2 boards which also will save you a few bucks.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

The ECS A790GXM-AD3 brings new technology to those who are on a tight budget but do not want to be left in the dust when it comes to their hardware. Competitively priced however, there are some shortfalls that will not fully give you an edge. Little designs like this, is what will make the ECS A790GXM-AD3 a good choice when deciding on a board for your next system.

This board was great to work with. It is fast, a great gaming board, and has upgrade options for the end user. Also, overclocking is phenomenal! Without a price, it is hard to say where this board fits in, but if it is in your price range, it is certainly a board you want to keep on your short list!

We'd like to thank our friends at ECS for providing the A790GXM-AD3 for our review today. The ECS A790GXM-AD3 is a great entry-level, budget-minded AM3 motherboard that gives end users more than enough features to quench their thirst for higher performance, easy of use, and stability. The BIOS was absolutely fantastic in terms of usability and also had plenty of advanced features for overclocking. Overall, I didn't see too many flaws with this board.
