Toshiba REGZA 40WL753 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

True, this Toshiba does have an impressively clean, solid and vibrant Freeview tuner, which includes lovely, sharp images from the likes of BBC HD, but when you also factor in soft DVD pictures and an audio delivery that, while reasonably clear with voices, is overall rather flat and thin, the ’WL753 struggles to garner a heartfelt recommendation. Sure it’s better than its cheaper sibling, but it’s outclassed by its price rivals.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

If you’re a reasonably casual TV user after an affordable but decently featured 40in TV to mostly just watch normal TV programming on, the 40WL753 is just about worth considering - especially given the cleverness of its Resolution+ system at upscaling standard definition. However, the 40WL753‘s online features are seriously slender compared with most rival brands, and for gamers and film fans the set’s backlight issues and one-dimensional audio could very well be deal breakers.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Mid-range TVs will always suffer in comparison to higher-end, premium-styled, feature-heavy sets, but unfortunately for Toshiba the 40WL753 doesn't fare well when considered against its fellow £800-odd flatscreens. The picture performance is solid but lacking panache, the design is a bit odd and the YouTube feature is something that you'll probably only ever play with once.
