ASRock X58 SuperComputer Pro Reviews

www.legitreviews.com‘s review Edit

The ASRock X58 SuperComputer was a fantastic performer, had great overclocking potential, and had a decent bundle. ASRock produced a board that rivals most of the other leading manufacturers out there. The only hold up for the board may be the price once you compare it to some of the other offerings out there.

But nevertheless, despite all the issues we pointed out, I really liked ASRock X58 SuperComputer mainboard. It works, it can even overclock CPUs, it exists, unlike mainboards from Abit, Chaintech or EPoX. It will be really sad if we will be stuck only with Asus and Gigabyte mainboards without any freedom of choice. That is why I sincerely hope that ASRock Company will continue working on the new mainboards, will take into account the issues we pointed out and next time they will make a perfect mainboard that will proudly bear the “SuperComputer” title.

Now, what can we say about the ASRock X58 SuperComputer motherboard other than "WOW!" - This board has really put a bit of a dampener on the likes of the ASUS P6T and Rampage II Extreme. The SuperComputer board puts in enough features for just about anyone (apart from dedicated audio, but we can live without that). It has FireWire for digital connection, eSATA for high speed external storage and dual Gigabit Ethernet for 2Gbps connection on a LAN. Tie that in with an extremely impressive overclocking result and a rather solid bundle, this board is ripe for the picking at 294.99 USD from Newegg and has both price and power on its side.

The ASRock SuperComputer certainly sounds impressive and could potentially make for a great mini-super-computer. However, without the £5000 worth of graphics cards needed to achieve this, this motherboard is otherwise mediocre, especially in the overclocking stakes. Add in the fact it's uncomfortably expensive and you have a board that should only be considered if you are trying to make it live up to its name.

motherboards‘s review Edit

This board in a word excites me to no end. The ability to have four video cards without SATA or capacitors or other components in the way is a huge plus for me. The ability to use either ECC or non-ECC DDR3 memory is a huge plus and puts this board squarely into the server category as the board supports the new Intel Xeon 3500 Series CPUs. The performance on the board was pretty good within the expected performance of this chipset. ASRock has done a great job with this board and it is a good alternative to some of the more expensive boards on the market, able to overclock to 3.6GHz with ease.

What does the ASRock X58 SuperComputer cost? About $300 USD. Yes, this is quite expensive in general, but for X58 motherboards it is positioned quite well. There are several Intel X58 motherboards positioned within the $200 price range, including some from ASUS and Gigabyte, but none with the number of features found on the X58 SuperComputer.

extremeoverclocking‘s review Edit

The ASRock X58 SuperComputer exceeded my expectations. Performance was near identical to the EVGA X58 motherboard. The X58 SuperComputer's great features coupled with its bountiful overclocking options make it an easy choice for any computer enthusiast who wants a high end graphic solution with the ability to overclock. With its Xeon and Tesla support you could pair it with 24GB of ECC memory and have a stellar supercomputer at a budget price.
