ASRock's new A330ION motherboard integrates DDR3 RAM in an amazingly featured low-power Mini-ITX motherboard. With support for up to 6 SATA drives at full speed and excellent high definition playback in audio and full 1080p video, the A330ION would make a great storage server, HTPC, or hybrid combination!

The ASRock A330ION motherboard is interesting in many respects. The first is that the system supports an external graphics card via a PCI Express 2.0 x 16 slots. The second point is that it supports RAID 0, 1 among four SATA drives meaning multi-terabyte RAID arrays a possibility. The motherboard has support for DDR3 memory. For the HTPC user this is a good solution as it offers HDMI, DVI-D and D-Sub connections and has the ability to play back BD without losing frames due to not enough power. It also has the full allotment of audio jacks and a powerful audio solution in the form of the Via VT2020 and support for Creative Lab’s X-Fi MB solution allowing EAX 4.0 to be used on onboard sound.

We'd like to thank ASRock for providing the A330ION for our review today. Our standard benchmark suite really pummeled the A330ION in every measurable aspect of this board. But, the motherboard comparisons we used in our benchmarks didn't make things easy for the A330ION either. This mini ITX board will definitely give budget users the right performance for the right price without making them purchase a new processor or graphics card. The board's ability to support DDR3 is great, but it maxes out at 4GBs, which is a little disappointing.
