Lexmark Genesis Pro Reviews

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

When this printer was released, the retail price at the Lexmark website was USD 400, which was a little pricey, but a recent reduction to USD 200 makes it a much better value. That combined with low ink costs make it an attractive acquisition for home or home office.

The 'wow' factor of the Genesis's vertical profile and its camera-based scanner compensates somewhat for the pricey inks.

So when it comes to recommending the Lexmark Genesis, I'm torn. The Flash Scan Technology is a great feature, but with a price tag of $399.99, I think lexmark is pricing the Genesis out of many small offices and home offices. Plus, I was extremely disappointed they didn't choose to offer the 105XL black ink cartridge for $4.99 as an option for the Genesis. Considering the low cost per page the 105XL offers, it could have taken some of the sting out of the high initial price.

The Lexmark Genesis S816 offers impressive speed and ample paper handling for a small to medium-size office or workgroup, but lacks paper handling options for heavy-duty printing.

Macworld‘s review Edit

Lexmark certainly has something to brag about with the Genesis, offering a game-changing design and technology that other high-end home MFPs like the Canon Pixma MG8120 and Epson Artisan 835 can't touch. I'd be more excited about the Lexmark Genesis if the inks weren't so expensive; even so, it's a very interesting and appealing MFP.

The Genesis evolves multifunction printers with a strikingly different design and a fast, new-tech scanner. If you do a lot of printing, however, it can be an expensive choice.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Overall, we’re very impressed with this printing, faxing, copying, sharing, and web enabled machine. The Lexmark Genesis is definitely a printer that takes printing beyond its standard definition and redefines it to make sense in the modern business world: a world where sharing, speed, and accuracy is key. While our play was brief what we saw certainly makes this a contender and one that we are looking forward to getting in for a full review in a home environment rather than a launch event in NYC.
