MSI P45 Platinum Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

On the overclocking side, MSI has greatly changed up how it is done. You are not going to dive into this board like you would many other cookie-cutter BIOS motherboards today. The MSI has shown to be a good overclocker, but it is going to require some tweaking, and obviously the right CPU. Stability on the MSI P45 Platinum showed to be very good and chipset cooling on the board was stellar. Performance was on target with other X35/P35/X38/X48 motherboards. If you are looking for something new and different from MSI I would say give this board a look.

MSI P45 Platinum mainboard makes a very good first impression. It boasts excellent technical specifications and the futuristic chipset cooler is a true work of art. The board boasts a number of unique features such as the power-saving technologies that can work without any special utilities and even during CPU overclocking.

This is the first P45 motherboard that we've reviewed and it is very promising. Given its similarities to the P35 chipset it's not a nailed purchase for those going with a single GPU configuration, but if you're planning on running ATi CrossFire graphics it offers superior performance at a reasonable price.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

The P45 chipset has a good overall feel; its overclocking at this early stage is impressive, and while we only managed to hit 504MHz FSB, we only had a few hours to really test the board compared to a full 24 hrs of tweaking. In just 2 hours we managed to make over 500MHz. We can only see a better result if given more time to play.

All three of these P45 motherboards reviewed today are competent offerings for anyone looking to build or upgrade an Intel Core 2 processor-based system. Depending on your budget and feature desires, either the MSI, Gigabyte or ASUS board is going to have what you need.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The P45 Platinum is the cheaper of the two boards by nearly $100, but by its performance you wouldn't guess that. Paired with cheaper, easily attainable DDR2, the Platinum typically matched the Diamond in each of our benchmarks, and was usually even a frame or so faster during our gaming runs. With the price of DDR2 nowadays, it's a less-costly way to get 4GB or more of memory installed into your system for even more performance.

There's plenty to love about the P45 Platinum Deluxe, and performance wasn't too far off from the pack.
