MSI P35 Platinum Combo Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

Independent system builders take note of the MSI P35 Platinum Combo motherboard. This could be a good board to help cut down on inventories and configuration options while still supporting newer DDR3 memories for customers that want them. Once configured, the P35 Platinum Combo was a solid and stable motherboard and it was interesting to watch where DDR3 actually made a difference in the benchmarks.

All in all, if we try to answer the question asked in the title of this article, we can say that you should rather use DDR2 SDRAM, because DDR3 support could have been better. And in this case, you might as well go for the regular MSI P35 Platinum mainboard, which costs even less than $150. Anyway, as we have already said, it may still be a great choice for your needs, it just depends what needs these are…

HotHardware‘s review Edit

In the bulk of our tests, we saw only small differences in performance when using the MSI P35 Platinum Combo with DDR2 or DDR3 memory. In most cases there were no measurable differences whatsoever, with only PCMark Vantage's Productivity and Communications test showing a favor toward DDR3. In virtually every other test, the P35 Platinum Combo performed similarly, regardless of the memory used.
