EVGA Classified SR-2 (Super Record 2) Pro Reviews

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

Wow. With so many features and an impressive size, it is really difficult not to be impressed by this motherboard. With two Xeon 55xx or 56xx CPUs you will have eight physical cores, but the operating system will recognize your system as having 16 processors due to the Hyper-Threading technology. The motherboard supports up to 48 GB of RAM. And you can install up to four dual-slot video cards to build a four-way SLI or CrossFireX system with all slots working at x16. As a final note, we think EVGA should improve their manual and website.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

In closing, the SR-2’s unrivalled ability to set new performance records via the ability to overclock a pair of Xeons plus a small army of graphics cards means it’s the ultimate motherboard and as such should be at the top of every enthusiast’s wishlist.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The performance of the EVGA Classified SR-2, when powered by a pair of Intel's flagship Xeon 5680 processors, is nothing short of impressive, for the most part. In synthetic tests and multi-threaded benchmarks that can exploit all of the processor resources afforded by the platform, the EVGA Classified SR-2 / dual Xeon 5680 combo put up some excellent numbers, that nearly doubled the performance of the current top-of-the-line Core i7 980X. In applications that can't fully tax the platform, however, much of the power of the EVGA Classified SR-2 / dual Xeon 5680 combo is untapped and performance, while still good, isn't that much better than a powerful desktop PC that's powered by a single CPU.

As is often said, you have to pay to play. The EVGA Classified SR-2 is not for every day web surfing or harvesting your crops in Farmville. Whether it is for an extreme enthusiast, world record bench marker, high end video rendering workstation, or a Folding@home fanatic, it is by far at the head of the class in performance and wow factor as the ultimate desktop computing platform for 2010.
