MSI 890GXM-G65 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

With USB3 and SATA3, this outstanding microATX motherboard combines a great range of features and plenty of flexible options for overclocking.

This board may be worth looking at if you don’t plan to overclock. But even though it certainly looks great, £110 for a micro-ATX board is expensive. A £60-70 785G board still offers plenty, and would be a sounder bet for a media PC or a quiet work system. At least the board performed reasonably well in our tests at stock speeds. However, apart from the aesthetics, there’s only the micro-ATX size to recommend this board over the Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 which costs only a tenner more.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

The MSI 890GXM-G65 is a great board, without a doubt, but there were a few things that held the board back from the gold. The main issue I had was that the board was not the strongest overclocker and even with the latest BIOS that was designed to improve the overclocking issue, it could still not match the majority of motherboards I have used. Making this one board that has appeal across a wide range of users and one that comes recommended to all but the most demanding overclockers.

A broad range of features on a compact microATX board – but you’ll pay for it.

motherboards‘s review Edit

The MSI 890GXM-G65 is an interesting board in that it has the features to be among the best in the business with the support for both USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps and Active Phase Switching in both Linux as well as Windows. The bundle is rather lackluster as I would like to have seen at least two SATA Data cables, one is a bit disappointing. Performance was right up there in terms of the Mainboard performance and was the highest in terms of integrated performance. Overclocking options were a plenty on this board with 3.3GHz easily done on the Phenom II x4 810 CPU we use for testing. Overall a solid package from MSI is to be seen here, for the money this is a good buy from MSI.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

As for the two boards featured in this article, they reflect the mainstream nature of this chipset, with ATX and mATX form factors readily available. Both are modestly equipped while having all the key features that one expects from a modern, mid-range motherboard. Performance-wise, they do not differ by much.

phoronix‘s review Edit

While our testing of the MSI 890GXM-G65 is not yet complete, so far we are enjoying this motherboard and it is working well with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. This microATX motherboard sports AMD's high-end 890GX + SB850 Chipset with USB 3.0, Serial ATA 6GB/s, eSATA, a heatpipe cooling system, Radeon HD 4290 graphics with Sideport memory, and other welcomed features. At this time the MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard is currently retailing for around $130 USD at NewEgg and Amazon.
